So after two very good episodes, I'm actually now starting to like the 12th Doctor. I mean yeah he is going soft a little bit and there's still a bit of darkness and tension in him, but otherwise, I'm starting to like him. Some episodes do feel like that its been done before previously in both revival and classic episodes, but with this one, it somehow manages to borrow elements from a vast range of episodes like people "sort of" trapped in things with parts of them barely visible to the human eye (Fear Her, The Idiot's Lantern and The Bells of Saint John) and the whole Doctor trapped in the Tardis thing which a huge number of episodes have done but not often do you get it in the revival and not often does the Doctor get trapped in the Tardis as its normally the companions. But anyway, let's look at this one shall we:
So the Doctor and Clara have just been on an adventure and the Doctor takes Clara home to her boyfriend Danny Pink whom Clara has maintained a lie about him being fine with her travelling through time and space with the Doctor. But as the Tardis lands, something begins to drain energy from it which leads to the ship shrinking its exterior. Clara goes to investigate the matter, befriending some people on community service as she goes and she soon discovers that there is something lurking in the walls, the floors and the ceilings. She attempts to get help from the Doctor, but because of the Tardis shrinking down to the size of a brick with The Doctor inside, she takes the small Tardis with her and the Doctor gives her his sonic screwdriver and psychic paper because it looks like she will be doing most of the work this time.
Now this one I felt was good and even though it did heavily borrow elements of other episodes, its done in a way that makes the episode quite terrifying and scary. Its good to have Clara do some more work this time around and I also like the whole concept about what happens if the Tardis was small which believe it or not, was done in the classic series as well. Great episode and I look forward to see where it goes from here and when the Promised Lands will kick in. 9/10
