So the Doctor has returned to our television screens with the second half of series 7 starring Matt Smith as the current Doctor and Jenna Louise Coleman who plays the unusual and mysterious new companion, Clara Oswald. So with episode number 6, we ask the question, is the use of Wi-Fi safe? Let's find out:
Just a side note that because there are a lot of prequels going around for each of the new episodes, I'm going to include those in my reviews as well from now on, but will treat the prequel and the actual episode as a whole.
So The Doctor continues to find out more about this Clara Oswald person who he has met twice and (spoiler alert for anyone who missed certain episodes previously) has died twice. We come to a park where the Doctor meets this little girl and they talk about losing things, but little does he know, that this little girl is the girl that died twice right in front of him. In the present day, some unusual Wi-Fi connection seems to be uploading souls of the individuals that are using it, onto some sort of server (it's very technical so I won't go into too much detail of that). Meanwhile in the year 1207, a group of monks speak to the Doctor (who is also dressed as a monk) and tell him that the bells of St John are ringing. This however is false because it's actually the Tardis that is ringing (which for the revival series is the second time ever for that to happen) and so the Doctor picks it up and surprise, surprise it's the girl who died twice. The Doctor travels to the present day and after witnessing Clara's soul being uploaded onto a server, it's up to him to put an end to this deadly and mysterious Wi-Fi connection that's causing all this to happen.
Now when I watched this, I watched it with my family and my mother pointed out a continuity error with the house that Clara talks to the Doctor from when she opens the window, in later shot, the house they are at, seems to have changed (Just wanted to get that out of the way because it hasn't been addressed at all and I know there's probably other errors as well, but I'm not going to go through them all because it would make this post very long). That aside, what did I think of the episode? I thought it was a great episode that had originality, a lot of humorous moments and was a good start to the second half of the series. I won't spoil the ending for you, but I will say that there is a heartbreaking moment towards the end which made my sister cry. Now she hardly ever cries, so that is quite impressive for something like Doctor Who and I can honestly say that this series just keeps getting better and better and I cannot wait to see what the other episodes have in store (and of course the 50th anniversary special as well). 9/10
