Random Movie Review: The Incredibles

Some of you may be wondering why I'm skipping a few Pixar films, mainly Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo. This is because that there are some sequels and prequels in the works and they have been confirmed of their existence and while this film has a possible sequel in the works, it hasn't been confirmed as of yet. For anyone who missed my last monthly update post, I only do single film reviews if I know that there aren't any more films in the works for that particular franchise, whereas if there is more than one film in the series, I then do a series review of them when they come about, so those will come as soon as I've seen the sequels and prequels (if that makes sense). That aside, let's talk about this film. The Incredibles is one of the most original and unique of Pixar's films so far and has some great potential going for it. With Brad Bird on the directing chair and a number of similar films that this has to live up to, is it any good? Let's find out:

In the supposed golden age of superheroes, Mr Incredible (a man with incredible strength) is on his way to his wedding where he is to marry the flexible and stretchy Elastigirl. However a delay occurs when he must stop a gang of robbers, an enemy of his who is known as Bomb Voyage (a french criminal known for bombing places, I guess) and his no. 1 fan from getting in the way. He arrives late and after that, in light of what has happened during the many crimes that he stopped, the government comes to the conclusion that superheroes are a threat and must either leave Earth or have their secret identity as their only identity. Years later, Mr Incredible, now known as Bob Parr, has taken a desk job that he hates and as such, has managed to make a family with Elastigirl (now known as Helen Parr which consist of Dash (who has superspeed), Violet (who can produce forcefields and can turn invisible) and Jack Jack (who doesn't have powers to begin with, but the time will come later on). He remains in contact with fellow superhero Frozone (who does all things that involve the cold or freezing in some way), now known as Lucius Best and when he gets contacted about an assignment that is in need of his powers, he takes this opportunity and goes out to be super again. But when an old acquaintance (as it were) of his emerges, a sinister plot is revealed which Mr Incredible must stop, before any more destruction is caused. But can he do it alone? Watch it to find out.

Overall, this is a great film that is vastly superior in Pixar's line of films with everything working so well. The superheroes are great, the villain is unexpected and also great and the story tells us a thing that all superheroes we know, have to live with. Its one of Pixar's best films to date and I can't wait to see how this will go from here (although after watching their next film, I have a pretty solid idea and believe me when I say this that its not the best way to go at all, after this fantastic film). A perfect 10/10
