Doctor Who Review: Cold War (S7, E8)

So with the Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, Silurians, Davros and even the Time Lords all bought back from the classic series, is there any more that can be revived for the new series? In this case yes. But who is it and what is it? Let's find out:

The Doctor and Clara arrive on a Soviet submarine in the year 1983 (The Doctor assuming its Las Vegas) which upon their arrival, is sinking to the depths of the sea. Losing most of his equipment (the Tardis included, but that gets explained at the end), The Doctor has to now relay on his instincts. According to the on board professor (who I swear looks a lot like the first Doctor), the vessel has acquired a frozen creature that has been frozen for about 5000 years and when one of the men on board decides to un-freeze it, it's up to The Doctor to save the crew from this creature, before any nuclear weapons are released onto the world, possibly causing another war to occur.

Have you guessed what it is yet? If not, it's a Ice Warrior, an alien inside a metal body who originated from Mars and first encountered the Doctor in his second incarnation. Despite the IW's similarities to the Daleks and Cybermen, they are different in that the creature inside the metal body is a reptile of some sort and can leave the body at any point and have sonic technology in their reptile hands. There is more I could say about them, but if I did that, it would go off the review entirely so I'm going to leave at at that.

Overall, this is a great episode that has the action packed Doctor that we know and love and has some of the best acting in the show so far. Its not as confusing as some of the 11th Doctor's other adventures which is a good thing and if I can find any criticism, change the main theme of the title sequence because its not as epic as before, but I really don't care about that, but otherwise, its a great episode. 9/10
