Movie Series Review - Alien VS Predator

Crossovers are what many call a dream come true. There are one of the many things that nerds and geeks crave and for good reason. Typical crossovers like this one, come in the form of 2 franchises coming together for a fight or a team up whereas other crossovers like to mix things up a bit with more than 2 franchises and on occasions, have the franchises there, but don't necessarily have the main characters of those franchises be the main characters of the crossover as seen in films like The LEGO Movie, Wreck-It Ralph and video games like Kingdom Hearts. Now with most crossovers, many would call it a non-conical entry in their respective trilogies because at the end of the day, they are just there to make fans happy and that's it. Today we look at a crossover series that has spawned into other things as well as films like video games, comic books and merchandise and involves two of the most deadly monsters in the Sci-Fi genre. Unfortunately, the films aren't that great, but let's have a look anyway:

Alien VS Predator
So a satellite detects a mysterious heat bloom beneath Bouvetoya which is an island not far from Antartica and a team is assembled and sent by wealthy industrialist Charles Bishop Weyland (reprised by Lance Henriksen from the Alein films) to go an investigate. A Predator ship crashes into the same site that the team investigate which leads them to find a mysterious pyramid which they then explore, only to find that they have got themselves into a bloody war between the two titular monsters and its then a matter of survival. I got to be honest, I don't think anybody would care really if we did have a story with human characters because at the end of the day, we just want to see who would win in a battle between the Alien and Predator species and we do get that in this film, but there is way too much human story going in it. Its fine if it works, but it just plays out like any other horror scenario where its all to do about survival, but I will give it credit for killing off the characters in no particular order instead of doing it in a certain order that makes people wonder if the film makers have problems with working with people of different races, weights, IQs and those who act like a**holes all the time. 6/10

Requiem
Serving as a direct sequel to the first film, a Predator ship which is carrying dead Aliens, living facehuggers as well as a dead Predator (who's death is shown in the first film), crashes into Gunnison, Colorado when a hybrid of the two species emerges and kills the Predators on board. This allows this hybrid and the facehuggers to escape and start reproducing by affecting some of the locals in the area. On a Predator planet, a lone Predator is alerted to this matter and goes to Earth to investigate and once again, its an all out war between this one Predator, the hybrid and it's forces with many humans making sacrifices in the process. In my honest opinion, this film started stronger than the first one as it gave us what we paid to go and see from the get go as opposed to starting with the humans like in the first film. Unfortunately, its not enough to make this film that good. It manages to do well for fans of either or both franchises by having references to each franchise, but the acting as well as its anti climatic end (which by the way makes no sense and is quite stupid in general) is the reason why this film isn't great as both a sequel and a film in general. 4/10

And there you go. It may not be the best crossover out there, but that doesn't make it the worst one. There are far more worse ones out there, believe me. But at least we got what we paid for so that's good at least. 7/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
