Random West End Show Review - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

So after seeing this show, the only thing that comes to my mind, is how classy it plays out to be and its one of those few shows that I actually get to see famous actors in action. Now I haven't seen the film that this musical is based on, so I'll be basing my review on the show alone so let's take a look:

So this musical based on the film of the same name, tells the story of a scam that a rich con artist called Lawrence Jameson (played by Robert Lindsay of My Family fame) and a not so wealthy American called Freddy Benson (played by well known and loved comedian Rufus Hound) hatch upon after the latter helps the former get rid of a woman who planned to marry him. This scam would have both players try to get $50,000 from a woman in town and the first to do this, would have the other leave town. But they are about to discover that this is one scam that would be full of surprises and twists.

Of all the shows I've seen at the west end so far, this one felt classy in everything it had to offer, but I wouldn't say its the best show I've seen. Sure its got some great music, funny moments (including a few "Break the 4th Wall" jokes) and you wouldn't get this amount of talent or famous faces anywhere else (well except for conventions of course), but for me, it just doesn't have the energy and power that shows like Book of Mormon and I Can't Sing had. Still, I enjoyed it and the venue was quite classy in itself which was great. 8/10
