Well this is it. Harry Potter has finally come to a close. I've read 5 of the books, played 15 of the games (including multiple consoles and the LEGO adaptations), own several LEGO sets of the series as well as a model golden snitch, own 7 Blu-Rays and now watched all 8 films (all at the cinema). I'm glad that I've been a part of this epic decade of Harry Potter which for me is nearly over. I say nearly because I still want to buy a Hogwarts made out of LEGO and play LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 on PS3. I have no intention of playing the last three main games as I've been told that thier rubbish and I may read the last 2 books when I have the chance to. Any way now onto the review.
SPOILERS (for those who haven't read the book or played the game that is)!!!!
So we get a brief flashback of Voldemort geting the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's grave and then we go to the opening which I felt could've been better with the WB logo on fire witha red background showing highlights of the past films followed by the main Harry Potter logo. It's what I felt would've been better but oh well. So Harry goes into the house of the married couple (from the last film) and speaks with the goblin who agrees to help Harry find a Horcrux inside Bellatrix's Vault in Gringotts in exchange for Godric Gryffindor's Sword. He then speaks to Ollivander and asks him to identifiy 2 wands which belong to Bellatrix and used to belong to Draco but has swapped allegiances since Draco disarmed Albus who at the time had the Elder Wand which is now in possesion of Voldemort. Hermione uses Polyjuice Potion to transform herself into Bellatrix while Ron disguises himself and Harry and the Goblin go under the Invisability Cloak. All goes well until the Goblin suspects that there is an imposter in the mist until Harry uses a spell to control the Head Goblin and they then head to Bellatrix's Vault which is guarded by a Dragon. Harry and the others find the Horcrux and the Goblin takes the sword and runs off. Menawhile Harry and his friends jump onto the dragon and escape Gringotts. They then head into Hogsmede where they set the alarm off but are rescued by Aberforth Dumbledore (Albus's Brother) who tells them to not return to Hogwarts as its a suicide mission. Harry convinces him and eventually Aberforth speaks to his portrait and tells it to go to Hogwarts to fetch Neville who helps Harry, Ron and Hermione get back to Hogwarts. Soon after thier arrival, Snape escapes after discovering Harry's presence and McGonagall takes charge by having Statues shaped like warriors to defend the castle while she along with the other staff members and the Order of the Pheonix produce a Sheild to protect the castle from snatchers (which Neville defeats by destroying a bridge while they run across) and Death Eaters (lead by Voldemort). Inside the castle Harry ventures into the Room of Requirement after speaking to a ghost to find another Horcrux and destroy it (which he does after a fiece fight with Draco and his buddies. Goyle dies at this point). Ron and Hermione on the other hand go to the Chamber of Secrects to find a Basilisk fang and destroy the Horcrux which they do and then get wet and finally kiss before they go to help Harry in the Room of Requirement. Voldemort then asks his Death Eaters to retreat to the Forbidden Forest to capture Hagrid and have Harry come over to be killed. During this point, Voldemort has Snape killed which then Harry gets a tear from Snape and puts it in the pensieve in Albus's (or rather Snape's) office to review Snape's memories which pretty much tie up all loose ends and answers many questions as well. Harry then heads to the forest after saying goodbye to his friends and then uses the Ressurection Stone (one of the Deathly Hallows) to be comforted by the spirits of his parents, Sirus and Lupin (who died during the battle at Hogwarts) who remind him that they will always be with him in his heart no matter what happens. Voldemort then spots Harry and then casts the killing curse on him which then takes Harry to a more cleaner Kings Cross Station where Albus greets him and answers Harry's questions about what to do next. Pretending to be dead (because he was also a Horcrux and Voldemort destroys the Horcrux but not Harry), Voldemort and the Death Eaters go to Hogwarts to tell them that they have won. Draco returns to his parents who decide to leave after Neville's speech and Harry and Voldemort go into one last fight. Mrs Weasley kills Belletrix while Neville finds the sword of Godric Griffindor (which was in the goblin's hands but the goblin was then killed so the sword then comes to Hogwarts) and during Voldemort and Harry's final encounter, he kills Nagini (Voldemorts pet snake and the final Horcrux) and Voldemort is then killed. Harry then greets the survivors in the castle and then destroys the Elder Wand as it could become very deadly. as for the other items of the Deathly Hallows, Harry keeps the Cloak of Invisability and leaves the stone in the forest which is then buried into the earth to never be found again. Harry also keeps the two sided mirror that Sirus gave him in an earlier story to be used in dire need as its other self was in the possession of Aberforth. 19 years later, Harry, Ron, Hermonie, Ginny, Draco and his partner, give thier childern advice as they head to Hogwarts via the Hogwarts Express. The film then ends with the classic ending music from the first film.
Overall, its the best out of all the films and I'm sad that its all over. Sure they might make a remake in about 10 years or so but it won't beat what has trully been a great franchise that changed the world forever. I'll be missing it greatly. 10/10
When I give a 10/10 that means that you all should watch it but watch the other ones first before doing so.
