Doctor Who Review: Closing Time (S6, E12)

For those of you who aren't aware, "Closing Time" is a continuation of an episode from the last series called "The Lodger" in which The Doctor meets Craig and changes his life alltogether. More on that can be found on Wikipedia. Anyway, lets see what this episode was like in my review:

SPOILERS!!!!

On his last day before death (or so we think), The Doctor pays a visit to an old friend of his, Craig Owens, who is now married to his girlfriend and has a baby boy called Alfie and has also moved house. The Doctor decides to work for a department store until discovering some suspisous activity in the way of blinking lights. Stumbleing upon Craig and Alfie (who The Doctor speaks to in baby which was also used in "A Good Man Goes To War") The two investigate the store (although most of the time, everyone thinks there're gay partners) and come across a cyber mat with teeth. After attempting to power it down, The Doctor, Craig and Alfie return home and Craig then heads out to get some milk while The Doctor somehow gets it working again and then with Alfie, heads into the garden accidently leaving his Sonic Screwdriver behind. Craig returns home and after attempting to battle the mat, The Doctor breaks the window and destroys it. the 3 of them then sit on the sofa and The Doctor tells Craig why its a "Farewell Tour" until he goes asleep. The next day, the 3 of them then head to the store only to find a passageway hidden behind a changing room mirror leading them to a Cybermen ship. With Alfie in safe hands, Craig then gets put into a machine for changing into a Cyberman but thanks to Alfie's crying, battles his way out of the machine and with The Doctor, destroys the ship with the Cybermen still inside. The 3 then return home and The Doctor says his goodbye and then heads for the Tardis and says goodbye to three of the children he came accross during his time at the store. We then cut to River Song who is captured by the Eye Patch lady and the Silence and is then given some sort of hypnosis drug in preparation for The Doctor's death (or so we think).

Although in many ways it was a cheap episode, Its the funniest one I've seen in a long while, especially as James Corden is back in it. Hopefully more episodes like this will come soon. 9/10
