Doctor Who Review: The God Complex (S6, E11)

Now when I heard about this episode, I actually felt that there could be some unique ideas put in there and it paid off. And with David Walliams in there as well, Its bound to be good. Let's find out:

SPOILERS!!!

So The Doctor, Amy and Rory go to a hotel on another planet which seems to look more like an 80s hotel than anything else and discover a selection of portraits all of which have a being of some sort with something underneath (possibly resembling the things that killed them). They then bump into 3 people who have been in the hotel for quite sometime (presumably waiting for something to happen) and after the introductions, one of the 3 people mention of another person somewhere in the building. The 6 then head to a bar of somekind which has quite a few laughing puppet heads and the other guy who unfortunatly has gone into a phase where a centaur of some sort will go to him and kill him (which is what happens). After this, The Doctor then decides to plan out a trap for the beast so that he can ask it what it wants. During this, the others then go into many doors and come to the conclusion that they all resemble the nightmares that they have (including a PE lesson from hell, Weeping Angels, A clown, Dad getting angry about exam results and so on). As one of them is slowly going into the phase, The Doctor and the others then use a communicator that they put into a room while the guy uses the Sonic Screwdriver to speak through it presumably to lure the beast there. The remaining five then trap the beast into a room so that The Doctor can talk to it. However another person goes into a phase and the plan fails. The Doctor then escapes and enters the security camera room and spots this person going into the phase. Amy discovers that she is entering the phase as well so along with the final 3, they then enter a room which quite cowincedently, has Amelia Pond staring into the sky waiting for The Doctor. The Doctor then communicates to Amy and attempts to break her faith into her and succeds with the beast slowly dieing and the hotel turning into a simulation room. The Doctor, Amy and Rory then give Gibbis (the last man standing of the trio) a lift to his home planet and the The Doctor then leaves Amy and Rory at thier house knowing that his death is slowly coming.

In my opinion, this was indeed a great episode with suspense and fear. Loved it. 8/10
