First of all, the reason this is on my blog later than planned was because of my hectic schedule this week. So with that out of the way, Its time for my very first SJA review (because each story is split into 2 episodes, I'll be doing the story as a whole):
SPOILERS!!!!
A meteor crashes in a junkyard in the UK somewhere and in the meteor, there is a metal man who scares the life of a homeless person. We then cut to Sarah Jane, Rani and Clyde who are using a web cam to talk to Luke who is still at Uni. After their chat Clyde and Rani go home leaving Sarah Jane on her own. During the night, Sarah Jane here's her bell go and goes to answer it only to discover a baby being left there. She then calls Rani and Clyde (who both come with supplies) and explains to them that the baby is alien (due to the baby's ability to cut off power). Leaving Clyde with the baby which Sarah Jane calls, Sky, Sarah Jane and Rani head to the junkyard where the meteor crashed and meet an old face, Professor Rivers, who gives them access to the crime scene. Sarah Jane and Rani then see the homeless man and ask him what happened (in exchange for a working radio so that he can listen to "The Archers"). He explains about the metal man and then Sarah Jane and Rani leave. Meanwhile in a nearby Nuclear Plant, a woman enters earth through a portal and hypnotises a employee to help her find her baby. The metal man (invisible), enters Sarah Jane's garden where Clyde and Sky are, but before he does anything else, Miss Myers (the alien woman) kidnaps Clyde and Sky to save them both from the metal man. Upon arriving to the nuclear plant, Clyde asks for information from Miss Myers. Rani and Sarah Jane arrive soon after where they witness Sky turning into a 12 year old girl. Being commanded by her mother, Sky then attacks the metal man who is then held captive. Persuading Sky to make the right choice, Sarah Jane, Rani and Clyde (along with Sky) escape the nuclear plant and return back to Sarah Jane's home. Upon arriving, the gang then explain things to Sky before talking to Mr Smith, who does a diagnostic scan of Sky and concludes that Sky's
metamorphosis was caused by her synthetic DNA and was done to maximize her effectiveness as a bomb. Once the bomb is triggered, it will destroy mankind and Sky. Clyde then comes up with the idea to deactivate the bomb. Unfortunately though, only Sky's mother can do that. the four of them then return to the nuclear plant and use Sky's powers to stealthy enter the plant. Sarah Jane then pays a visit to Miss Myers and learns that the metal man is a homing beacon for his people which would result in leading his people into a trap. Sky arrives to help Sarah Jane out, while Clyde and Rani try to shut down the nuclear reactor before returning to Sky who unfortunately has been activated. Messing about with some wires, Rani and Clyde successfully turn off the nuclear reactor and the portal for the metalkind before all hell breaks lose. The effects of the outage in the plant then remove the programming of a bomb from Sky making her a normal human. the metal man (after freeing himself) then opens a portal which takes him and Miss Myers to another dimension of some sort. The episode ends with Sky being adopted by Sarah Jane.
As always with every Russel T Davis show, this was in a way a good start to a brand new (despite being short) series, hands down. 9/10
