Video Game Review: Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One (PS3)

Now this is a odd one. Many of the Ratchet & Clank games have been known to have only single player action whereas this one, in some way, is quite different. It allows up to 4 players to play at once. Does this pay off for the series or is 4 player just not that great? Let's find out:

Story:
The game takes place some time after the events from the last game, A Crack In Time (but not part of the Future trilogy) where Captian Qwark is now President of the galaxy, Ratchet and Clank are preparing for retirement and Dr. Nefarious is planning his nest move. Escorting the president to a award ceremony, Ratchet, Clank and Qwark see Nefarious wanting to conquer the galaxy by using another one of his plans, but it backfires as a much bigger threat emerges and now, desite thier differences and hatrid for each other, the four of them now must work together to get rid of this threat and return home safely from another planet.

A strong story throughout the game as the series is best known for so well done on that. 9/10

Gameplay:
Most of the gameplay has the same sort of elements in previous games (gadgets, upgrades for gadgets, lots of breakable boxes and so on) but unlike other games, it features 4 player co-op and you don't neccessaryly need 4 players to play the game as a AI partner will be made for you when you play on your own. You can play as all 4 characters at any point when exiting the game and returning to it and you can also play online as well. There has been a few glitches at certian points of the game where your AI partner won't come to heal you when you die because of an obsticle in the way (and he won't jump) and the game has a fixed camera which can cause a lot of anger and stress as a fixed camera doesn't always help in games.

There will be times when the gameplay gets fustrating and repetitive so as you go along, make sure that all characters have all weapons bought and fully upgraded before the very end of the game and at a good level as the game uses a level up system. Other than that, avoid getting glitches. 7/10

Graphics:
Graphics are more or less the same as all the other PS3 entries from the series except the framerate is a bit slower (presumably to make it look like watching a film). There are also points where the game makes the wrong assumptions like it says you have to beat the game to use cheats and you have beaten it. Boss battles look great and fun, Cinematics look more advanced compared to the last game and overall, a good setup in graphics. 8/10

Overall, this game is decent enough to be a great game, but may need working on when updates for it come and go. 7/10
