1. I own all the current consoles (Wii, 3DS, Xbox 360, PS3, PC and PSV) so I know exactly what to expect.
2. For everyone's information, if you own one console from the above and say that a console you don't own is bad, you just need to grow up and try that particular console before you go on to say that it sucks. In other words, don't be a fan boy.
3. I did not go to E3 this year as I didn't have the time or money to do so, so everything I saw was all online.
Right let's get to it:
Microsoft:
This is the first time I watched a press conference from Microsoft and based on what other presentations I've heard are like, they really need to up their game. It's a gaming expo, not a media expo, as all they talked about was how Bing and Internet Explorer will make the Xbox 360 better and more fun with the Kinect. Also as much as Usher is cool and all that, his performance wasn't really necessary in a press conference. The only games I liked in their presentation was Halo 4, the new Tomb Raider, the South Park game and Resident Evil 6. Call Of Duty: Black Opps 2 looks like it will have the same rubbish graphics and the same gameplay like Modern Warfare 3 and I'd rather watch paint dry than play the new Fifa and Madden games (which I'll get to shortly) which are probably going to suck as well. Also, where the hell are the PC games for Windows?!! Overall, Microsoft really need to catch up with its competitors as the next gen of gaming is fast approaching. 6/10
Sony:
Nintendo:
Nintendo this year seem to be trying out new things like early and later shows as well as the press conference itself (its not bad or anything in any way and I think its a great idea and it tells me that they are thinking of us). The big story here is the Wii U. announced last year, this successor to the Wii has promised some great things such as innovation in gaming and the stuff that gamers have been waiting for. A demonstration of how to use the GamePad was revealed and the menu codenamed Miiverse was also revealed which will allow various Miis across the country to be sociable and comment on their progress. It also looks like Nintendo are thinking of bringing third party applications like YouTube and Netflix to the Wii U along with a great line up of games such as Pikmin 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Batman Arkham City: Armoured Editon (an exclusive version of the game), LEGO City Undercover (Possibly the child friendly version of GTA), Mass Effect 3 (Not sure how they'll get people to make decisions from previous games, but we'll see what happens), Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Game & Wario, ZombiU and loads more!! Of course, there were some announcements of 3DS games as well such as Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario Sticker Star and New Super Mario Bros. 2 (which looks to be all about gold, not to mention a Wii U game in the series as well). NintendoLand (a virtual social network) looks promising, but will it deliver is the question. So this year, Nintendo has promised us great things. The only question now is, can they deliver? (And by the way, thank you for setting up Nintendo Network which is much better than Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Trust me). 8/10
EA:
If there's anything nice I can say about EA, that is that they know how to disappoint. All I can say is that alot of their games are the same every year. Need For Speed's latest entry (Most Wanted) is good as it always is, Crysis 3 looks good as well and Dead Space 3 was on for far too long and we can all agree that its probably not going to be great as such. Medal of Honor: Warfighter, while it's the latest entry in the series, seems overlooked compared to the graphics and awesomeness of Battlefield 3. SimCity however is looking to be great as always. Overall, the worst of all the conferences. EA really should consider not buying various developers (such as oh I don't know, BIOWARE!!!) because its probably the reason why Brutal Legend and Mass Effect 3 didn't satisfy the player like it should have been. Damn you EA!! 5/10 (and yes people, that is the lowest score I have given to anything that I've reviewed so far).
Ubisoft:
Despite the annoyance of the show's presenters (like last year), the line up of games from Ubisoft looks pretty strong. Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed 3, Far Cry 3 and Watch-Dog are among the best of the games in the presentation. Not too sure on Just Dance 4 and ShootMania, but the others sound OK. Despite everything about the presenters, the game line up is very strong and we should expect the games to be great. 7/10
And lastly, let's see the other games that were mentioned:
LEGO Lord of the Rings
Injustice: Gods Among Us (a DC game from the makers of Mortal Kombat)
Star Wars 1313
Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed
LittleBigPlanet Vita and Karting
Tank! Tank! Tank!
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Dead Or Alive 5
PlanetSide 2
Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion and The Power Of Two
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
Fable: The Journey
Wii Fit U
Castlevania: Lord of Shadows
And so many more!!!
This year's E3 overall has been very mixed in reactions to the games and hardware. Microsoft and EA need to up their game big time, while Sony and Nintendo are doing fine as it is. Ubisoft only needs to change the presenters (or at least their behaviour towards a press conference), but otherwise, they are OK too. Overall its a 9/10
