Top 10 E3 2012 Games

OK, I know what you all might be thinking. It's been well over a month now since E3 2012, but because the hype is almost over, I thought I'd should say what the top 10 things were at E3 this year. A couple of things though, First I'm not putting any of the Press Conferences as I already explained about them and Second, all of this is opinion based so if you disagree, then I won't argue, that's your choice. Anyway let's get to it:

10: South Park: The Stick of Truth
Now I really like the show, but when I heard that there was a game based off the show, I was hooked. This South Park game is expected to be an RPG which looks to be a continuity of a South Park episode that mocked the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It's on my list because of the joke that the creators of South Park did at the (once again, awful) Microsoft Press Conference and how promising the game looks from the trailer that was seen. We can expect this game to come onto Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, on March 5th 2012 with DLC content being released first on Xbox Live.

9: Rayman Legends
After playing Rayman Origins, it became clear to me that Rayman is back and better than ever. Rayman Legends is a direct sequel to that game and has a lot of things that make it better than Origins. Better visuals that show Rayman in all his glory, more characters to play as (such as Murfy) but most of all, it showed a number of Wii U functions like putting a figure on the Pad to help Rayman and Co and also some online functionality too. This game has yet to have a release date, but it will be an exclusive for the Wii U with some other consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360 getting it a little bit later.

8: The LEGO Trio
OK so I may be cheating a bit here, but its my list so I can do what I want. Many of you will probably have overlooked these games as just the same old LEGO games with the same old gameplay that everyone is still sort of liking. These games however are different. Batman 2 is the sequel to LEGO Batman: The Videogame and features an open world environment (which although needs working on, its still good), voice acting (a first in this era of LEGO games) and all the heroes and villains from most of the DC comics appearing either as part of the main story, or make playable cameos. LEGO City Undercover looks to be the first non licensed LEGO game to be made and its also an exclusive launch title for the Wii U. It features an open world environment, voice acting, use of the Wii U pad to get dispatch calls from and is probably the first non co-op LEGO game to date and features many known landmarks of a city (such as The Statue of Liberty). Is this game the LEGO equivalent of GTA? Who knows, but it could be. LEGO Lord of the Rings is the next LEGO licensed game which will be based on the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit books and films and like with the other two, it will feature voice acting (with lines taken directly from the films) and will probably have less humour than the other games. Little is known of this game, but we could be getting something great from this (just as long as it doesn't follow the footsteps of LEGO POTC and Indiana Jones). LEGO Batman 2 is already out on major platforms (I have a review of it on this blog), LEGO City Undercover will be out on Wii U and 3DS at Christmas and LEGO Lord of the Rings has yet to have a release date, but will be out for all major platforms.

7: Tomb Raider and The Last of Us
Two great looking games that have a few things in common. They have the blockbuster feel, they both continue what Uncharted started in terms of gameplay and the experience and they both look fun and the stories of both of them sound very promising. For Tomb Raider, this reboot of the series looks very promising especially with the new Lara Croft being quite sexy and adventurous and for The Last Of Us, I expect nothing more than the great Uncharted feel of the game. Tomb Raider will be out on 5th March 2013 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and The Last of Us has yet to have a release date but will be out for PS3.

6: Beyond: Two Souls:
After the success of Heavy Rain, I wasn't sure how the guys at quanticdream would be able to create a game similar to Heavy Rain. And then we get this. Beyond Two Souls, continues the dark tone and interactive drama that Heavy Rain did and expands it. The demo we saw looks promising and I can't wait for it. This PS3 exclusive will be released during the 4th quarter of this year.

5: ZombiU and Batman Arkham City: Armoured Edition
If the Wii U showed anything great for third party support, its these two games. Batman Arkham City has already been reviewed on my blog, however what I saw, may look like the same gameplay as before, but with using the Wii U Game pad to whip out Batman's gadgets and solve crime scenes, this game just got a whole lot better. ZombiU is UbiSoft's way of showing what the Wii U can do. It looks like fun but it could be hard to do, especially if its very fast paced as witnessed in the presentation. Still looks fun though. Arkham City is already out for PS3, PC and Xbox 360 and the Wii U version will be released later this year and ZombiU will also be out later this year for Wii U.

4: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
So we've had Smash Bros and Vs Capcom and now we get this. PS All-Stars is another one of those big crossover games that crosses over several Sony franchises such as Uncharted and God of War and mixes it up to bring the fans a big, epic fight. It may follow the similar gameplay of Smash Bros, but offers more than that as all the stages are based on a mix of two games instead of one, it offers a power gauge for all players, and has three levels of various moves that the characters can use. So far, the game looks very promising and while there are still much more stuff to go into it, we can expect a very good game in our hands. PS All-Stars will be released towards the end of October 2012 for PS3 and PSV.

3: Injustice: Gods Among Us
Continuing with the beat them ups, we get a brand new game from NetherRealms (the creators of the Mortal Kombat series) which comes in the form of DC comics. While the game does look to be like Mortal Kombat, what we may get is some pretty darn epic fights from most heroes and villains such as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. I know that there is little to know about this game right now, but the reason why its at 3 is because, judging by the trailer for it, it looks like a pretty good game and will probably be the closest we get to having another great DC game after the success of Arkham City. The game will be out, some time next year on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

2: Watch Dogs
If you've haven't used the hacking functions of Desus Ex: Human Revolution and/or Mass Effect 2, then you'll probably have no idea what I'm talking about. Watch Dogs is an action and adventure, open world game that has you using various technology to hack into all sorts of equipment to get further into a specific mission. The demo I saw looked very promising and if this new IP has anything good about it, its the great things that the game can do when it comes to cleverly complete missions (much like Batman in some sense). The game will be out next year on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

1: Assassin's Creed 3
OK as much as I liked seeing the other games in action, this game above all, looks to be like the best AC game of the series with many areas to visit during the American Revolution (which is the setting of the game), a new protagonist to play as (finally), new weapons, new quests and even the stuff it can do with the Wii U looks great as well. It is however, tricky to describe what platform, players should get it for as the PSV spin off can be linked to the PS3 version and the Wii U version has got some exclusive features that the other versions have such as an always visible map and choosing weapons. Regardless, the game will be out towards the end of October 2012 for PS3 and Xbox 360, will be out for PC on 23 November 2012 and will most likely be a launch title for the Wii U.

And that's all there is to it. As I said, all of this is opinion based so you may or may not agree with it, so there.
