Doctor Who Review: The Angels Take Manhattan (S7, E5) (Series 7 1st Half Finale)

After 3 years of Doctor Who, we say goodbye to Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) for the last time (unless they are bought back in a later series which is unlikely) in another goodbye to companions episode. In addition to that, we see the return of the Weeping Angels (now in different shapes and sizes), River Song/Melody Pond and New York (previously seen in series 3) which is what to expect in an episode like this. Is it better than other episodes like this? Let's find out:

The Doctor, Amy and Rory are enjoying a picnic in Central Park in present day New York. The Doctor reads a book and when Rory leaves to get coffee, to his surprise, Rory appears in the plot of the book and begin using the Tardis to find him. Rory encounters the aurthor of the book, River Song/Melody Pond and the 2 are captured by a collector who has them both face the Weeping Angels, one that is old and weak and an army of baby ones. Now it's up to the Doctor and Amy to rescue them both before it's too late.

For a goodbye to companion episode, this one I felt wasn't the strongest. It does feature the Ponds's daughter and thier greatest fear, but I felt that the whole thing was very predictable (apart from the end of course). But regardless, it did have the departure of the Ponds on a satisfactory note. But like I said, I've seen better ones than this. 8/10
