Top 15 Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Stories

Firstly, Happy Halloween everyone. Since The Simpsons began all those years ago, every season has had a Halloween Special that we all know as Treehouse of Horror. These special episodes consist of 3 mini stories that are based on spooky and scary stuff while at the same time, retaining the humor of the show. This list will be my top 15 mini stories from these episodes, so it's not an entire episode, just some of it. And with that, let's take a look at my top 15 Treehouse of Horror stories:

15: I've Grown a Costume On Your Face (XVI)
In a very clever and brilliant story, the people of Springfield enter a Halloween costume competition where a witch costumed person wins the contest. However she then reveals to be an actual witch and is disqualified when her prize is withdrawn. In revenge of this, she then turns everyone into their own costumes. Apu as R2-D2, Homer without a head, Ned Flanders as a flower, Lisa as Albert Einstein, Bart as a werewolf and Marge as a skeleton, everyone then turns to Maggie who is a witch to turn them back. One of the best stories that uses imagination a lot so well done to the creators.

14: Untitled Robot Parody (XIX)
As a spoof of Transformers (Most likely a combination of the TV show and films), Bart buys Lisa a Malibu Stacy pink convertible (unkownst to him that it's a transformer) for Christmas. This transformer then begins to form an army of robots known as Poisebots (a possible spoof of the autobot name). They then begin war against each other on Earth (enslaving humanity in the process). While I find this one to be quite weak, it does show things that made the films bad but trying to make it funny. It's not the greatest one, but it's OK never the less.

13: UNNormal Activity (XXIII)
Coming from the more recent special and spoofing the supernatural horror (which I did a series review of earlier this year), Homer places cameras around the house as he suspects that there has been strange activity going on. For the majority of the story, it does nearly every scene from the first, second and third films brilliantly without the jumps. In some way, it's the best spoof of a horror film that they have done so far.

12: In the Na'Vi (XXII)
In another spoof of a hugely successful film, Milhouse and Bart are sent to Rigel 7. They enter the body of an  alien that is the alien species that THOH regulars Kang and Kodos are. Bart falls in love and humanity start war with the aliens. It does spoof the film "Avatar" well, but uses some originality for the story and it's humour to make it less of a spoof and more of an original story which is great.

11: Heck House (XVIII)
It's Halloween and Bart, Lisa, Nelson and Milhouse are annoyed by the fact that no one has given them any candy, so to honour the true meaning of the night, they perform pranks across the town. Ned decides to offer his services by turning the church into a Heck House and when the children enter, he turns into Satan and sends them all to hell, to show them the seven deadly sins. In addition to another great story, this also marks the TV debut of Plopper from the Simpsons Movie who makes a cameo in this segment. It's a great story that shows what could happen if you turn bad.

10: Bad Dream House (I)
The first ever story in the series is also one that pretty much has the scare factor and humour all around. The family move into a new house that unkownst to them, has some sort of curse inside. As the family settle in, the house begins to brainwash them to kill each other and the end result is that the house doesn't like them and asks them to leave (destroying itself in the process). A good story that is original and very well done for the first ever story.

9: In the Belly of the Boss (XV)
At an expo of some kind, Prof. Frink creates a machine to shrink objects. Maggie gets into a giant pill that is minimised and then eaten by Mr. Burns. Frink then shrinks the remaining Simpsons members so they can go into Burns to find Maggie. Who thought that shrinking yourself and going all over ones body can be so funny. It could be better as it's very short, but it's otherwise OK.

8: House of Whacks (XII)
A robotic salesman visits The Simpsons to offer a futuristic equivalent to the average home which Marge agrees to do. The family begin to enjoy their newly refurbished home and even set the voice of the home to Pierce Bronsman for Marge's guilty pleasure. The voice begins to fancy Marge and begins disposing of Homer which then causes the house to become full of rage. It's a great story that has a robot villain that works very well.

7: The Terror of Tiny Toon (IX)
Possibly because of the violence of the special, Marge forbids Bart and Lisa from watching the Itchy and Scratchy Halloween Special. As she goes out for trick or treating with Homer and Maggie, Bart finds some plutonium and hammers it to the remote which then causes him and Lisa to enter the TV and appear on Itchy and Scratchy (and other shows later on). A very funny story that shows the unthinkable in a scary way.

6: Easy Bake Coven (VIII)
Set during a time when females were burnt for being accused for witchcraft, the people of Sprynge-Fielde decide who to condemn next, and they choose Marge. They throw her of a cliff and as predicted, she's on her broomstick, thus making her a witch. She and her sisters then go around people's houses to kidnap children, but when they arrive at the Flanders's house, they offer them some gingerbread men which has them go around people's houses to get some other goodies, thus marking the start of Halloween. A good way to explain how the annual event began.

5: The Monkey's Paw (II)
Coming from one of the very old episodes, this one has Homer and family buy a Monkey's hand which has been made to grant them 3 wishes, but for each wish, a bad thing happens in the process. Lisa wishes for world peace, which causes an alien invasion, need I say more. Just goes to show how wishing for things can happen. Great story.

4: The Genesis Tub (VII)
For a science project, Lisa places one of her teeth in a pool of cola. She then gets an electric shock from Bart and accidentally passes it to the tooth. Overnight, the tooth and it's whereabouts begin to show signs of civilisation, making Lisa their god. But as time passes, They begin to know Bart as their destroyer. Another great story that shows how it can be possible to create new life, even if it was for comedic purposes.

3: The Day The Earth Looked Stupid (XVII)
In the year of 1938 (during the Great Depression), a radio broadcast which is Orson Welles's infamous War of the Worlds broadcast, causes everyone to think that the world has been invaded. A riot then begins and it isn't until Marge comes up with the idea to get naked and covered in mud and make animal noises which they do. The following day, a fully dressed Lisa tells everyone that they have been foiled by the fake broadcast. Filled with rage about how stupid they looked, the civilians then return to do what they do and decide to never do a thing like this again (but of course, Kang and Kodos want a real invasion). I like this one in that it shows that a simple broadcast can have such a big impact on a town and the old fashioness of this one makes it one of the best.

2: Bart Simpson's Dracula (IV)
The Simpsons are invited to dinner at Burns's mansion. Lisa believes that Burns may be a vampire and goes with Bart to investigate. They come accross Burn's secret lair and its isn't long before everyone is turned into a vampire. It's a good story that shows the dark side of Burns in a great and scary way.

1: Homer3 (VI)
This was an obvious choice for number 1 as there isn't a story that can top a story that combines 3D animation with 2D animation. Patty and Selma visit the Simpsons and Homer decides to hide behind a bookcase. behind the bookcase, he finds a portal which he goes through and enters the 3rd Dimension. He then stabs the floor below him with a triangle that gets in his bum which then cause a sinkhole to begin. Various people across Springfield come to help him, but all fail miserably. One of the highlights of the entire show and one that isn't that easy to forget.

So I hope you liked my list and like I said, Happy Halloween!!

And thanks for the 200 views guys. :)
