Movie Series Review: Men in Black (1-3)

Based on the Marvel comic book series of the same name, Men in Black is a comedy Sci-Fi film series that since the first film, has been a favourite among it's fan-base  having been referenced and spoofed many times. But not all the films are great. They all offer a great story with great acting, but sometimes the film is just OK  And on that note, let's review these films:

I
Released in 1997, Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) of the Men in Black (a secret, extra terrestrial government organization) loses his partner to retirement and is forced to get a new partner. Agent Zed (the Agency's current leader at the time) gets a bunch of people from various branches of government and law enforcement and has them undergo a series of tests to see if they are capable for the job. K eventually decides to take on the least intelligent of the bunch, a NYPD officer called James Darrell Edwards III (Will Smith) who is later known as Agent J after his identity is removed from the real world. A farmer, somewhere in the country, is then attacked and eaten by an alien who obviously wants world domination in some way so its up to J and K to stop him before it's too late. Even though I haven't read the comics, the film stays true to them and offers a  lot of slapstick comedy and is very enjoyable and fun for all. 9/10

II
Released and set in 2002, 5 years after the first film (which is quite ironic), J has become the Men in Black's top agent, but after the departure of K, his partners since, haven't lived up to his expectations. However, when an old and long time enemy of the Men in Black (who goes by the name Serleena and is a shape shifting Kylothian Queen) returns to Earth to destroy it, J is forced to bring back K and save the MIB before the Earth gets destroyed. For the most part, the film is just ok, it doesn't really offer anything new that we didn't see last time around, but its still funny and enjoyable to watch. 7/10

III
Released 10 years after the first film, a prisoner of the LunarMax prison has escaped and is hunting down K to get his revenge on what he did on July 16 1969. Agent Zed has passed away and the new leader of MIB is Agent O. K learns at a alien Chinese restaurant that the prisoner known as Boris The Animal has escaped and after some time with J, K then disappears without a trace. J learns that K was killed on July 16 1969 and only assumes that Boris is responsible. He then goes to a electronics shop and talks to the shop owner who has had some communication with Boris. As the world is under attack, J uses a time travelling device that the owner gives him, to travel back to 1969 to prevent the death of his partner while at the same time, stop Boris from even performing the killing of K. Its been a long time since the last one and judging by the way it was presented, it definitely showed some more advanced CGI than before and is a good film to use the 3D effects. Definitely made for the fans. 9/10

Overall, it's a great sci-fi comedy series that tries to deliver in all levels and succeeds. 9/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
