AC12: Doctor Who Review: The Missing Episodes of Series 6

When I first started doing this blog, I started doing reviews of Doctor Who episodes, mid way through series 6. So after a long wait, here are my spoiler free reviews of the episodes that I missed out:

The Impossible Astronaut
Starting off the series, as well as dedicating this to the late Elizabeth Sladen (who played Sarah-Jane Smith in Doctor Who and one of it's spin off shows, Sarah Jane Adventures), Amy, Rory and River, receive a Tardis blue envelope which directs them to Utah in the USA at a specific time and date, as well as coordinates too. The trio meet up in Utah and meet The Doctor who has become 200 years older than their last encounter with him. The four of them then go to have a picnic where The Doctor reveals all about why they were invited which later involves them time travelling to 1969 to help deal with an alien threat that threatens the "Day of the Moon" as well as some deadly consequences too. It's a pretty good start to the series in my opinion and as the start of a 2 part story, its defiantly is worth watching if you want a fictitious insight to the Day of the Moon. 9/10

Day of the Moon
Taking place 3 months after the events of the last episode, Amy, Rory and River have gone all across America to find out about the aliens that plane to threaten the Day of the Moon. Ex-FBI agent Canton Delaware (who became an ally of The Doctor in the previous episode) pretends to hunt them down as criminals in the attempt to reunite them so that they can continue their investigation. This then leads them to an orphanage and later on, the NASA base. To avoid any blackouts from these aliens, The Doctor plants a recording device in his allies' hand as well as his own so that even if they forget the alien, they'll still have evidence to prove that they are real. Overall, this episode started out as being very confusing, but later on, I got the jist of it. It's pretty good, but I feel that there may be too much confusion for a lot of us when seeing this episode. 8/10

The Curse of the Black Spot
So River has gone back to doing what she does best. Finding ways of helping The Doctor from her prison. The Tardis receives a distress signal from a 17th century ship and the Doctor, Amy and Rory go to investigate. According to the ship's captain and crew, they have been haunted by a ghostly woman who chooses to take a random crew mate at any time (although, later on, that won't be the case). Its up to the stowaways (The Doctor, Amy and Rory in other words) to help the ship and crew stop this menace  While this episode does pay tribute to the scary classic Who episodes, it's not the greatest by any means. There isn't much character development, the story is OK, but as I said, not the best episode so far. 7/10

The Doctor's Wife
While in space, the Tardis receives a communication call which according to the Doctor, is a distress signal from a Time Lord. They somehow manage to travel outside of the universe and land on a asteroid that has a junk yard all over. There, they meet a woman called Idris, a man called Uncle, a green eyed Odd called Nephew and another woman called Auntie. They have all been constructed of different Time Lord parts and later on, the Doctor discovers that he isn't the only time lord killer out there and witnesses the power of his Tardis failing (which he thinks might be down to Idris who has somehow managed to get the Tardis matrix inside of her). Its overall, a story that's more for the fans than anyone else. It's well wrote, the characters are great and its overall, a good story. 9/10

And that finally ends my series 6 review of Doctor Who. Hope you liked my reviews and look forward to more in the future.
