AC25: The Snowman and The Snowdog and Doctor Who: The Snowmen Reviews

First off, Merry Christmas and to conclude my Advent Calendar period, I give you not one, but two reviews of the most anticipated British Christmas Specials this year, so let's take a look:

The Snowman and The Snow dog
So it's been 30 years since the original was broadcast on Channel 4 (might be something different internationally, but for the UK, it was that channel) so it only seemed right that a sequel was to be made. When I saw the sequel, I had mixed feelings about it. The story is basically the same as the original, only with a dog involved this time as well as a more happy ending than before. The artwork for the film is by far better than the original, the animation is great and for the scenes when flying takes place, work pretty darn well, especially when they go around the famous landmarks of London. So really all I can say about this, is that the story could be better, but the music, artwork and animation (all of which are great) make up for it. 8/10

Doctor Who: The Snowmen
Providing what I would consider the halfway point of series 7, The Doctor has spent quite a while in the year of 1892 as he mourns the death of former companions Amy and Rory. Despite this, the world below him is under threat from deadly snow that would eventually form into blood thirsty snowmen. A local barmaid called Clara (who will look very familiar to a lot of you that have watched the 1st episode of series 7 or have seen an earlier series of Waterloo Road) discovers this, and after a brief encounter with The Doctor, then seeks his help to save Christmas once again. But will The Doctor help and will his friends do the same? You'll have to watch it to find out. For the most part, it's a pretty good story with a lot of familiar faces. There are parts that are a bit confusing and messed up but as long as they don't act too complicated in future (like the last series), we should be OK. When I saw the teasers for this, most of them had the Sontaran known as Strax in them and I was very confused on how he's still around after the events of "A Good Man Goes To War". But nevertheless, it's a good story, probably not the strongest that I've seen in the show's Christmas Specials, but still very good. 8/10

So that's your lot for my Advent Calendar as it now finishes for another year. I plan to do a movie review tomorrow to celebrate my Birthday and along with the usual videos and song of the week, that will be it for this year. So have a good Christmas everyone. Peace.

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
