Movie Review: Wreck-It Ralph

Before I start, please bear in mind that when it comes to releasing things like this, it won't allways be released the same time as it's origin country and that's why it's late. I had to wait a few more months than the US to watch this and it was worth the wait. Taking into account that the film follows a line of films that have thier own original story with original characters and throw in some licensed characters and settings and what do you get, a great film, that's what. That of course started out with Who Framed Roger Rabbit and continued with Toy Story 1, 2 and 3 and it seems that Disney are always picked to distrubute these films and I don't blame them. But considering the way things are going with them right now, that's good. Anyway so what's this film about? Well I'll tell you:

Taking place in an arcade (surprise, surprise), Ralph is a bad guy who resides in the game Fix It Felix Jr. For  30 years, he's been wrecking stuff and after all that time, he wants to be a good guy. As with every video game villian, he is hated by many of his collegues and decides that in order to gain thier respect for him, he goes to find himself a medal, but in doing so, causes something terrible to happen in the arcade and its up to him to fix it (with the help from a few friends of course).

The film is great and pays tribute to 80s and 90s gaming quite well, however I'm surprised that not very many people my age are seeing this film. It's got a little bit of nostalgia here and there, it does it's best to throw in as many game references and cameos as possible and it's very funny throughout. Possibly one of the best animated films in recent years, but could've been better if say the Mario Bros. were in it. Still we do get Pac-Man, Sonic and Qbert which I guess is ok. 9/10

Now as I saw the film in the cinema, I might as well talk about the short film that was shown beforehand, called Paperman. It's basically black and white love story with a good mix of cartoon and CGI animation that feels like nostalgia. The story is that a man comes across a woman who accidently kisses a piece of paper which the man holds on to after she gets on a train. He then finds her across the road from his office and tries to get her attention by throwing paper planes as a form of love in some respects. It's very sweet, animation is great and it's like watching this generation of silent films. 9/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
