Thoughts and Predictions for the 8th Generation of Gaming

So completing my series of Next Gen posts, I now give you my thoughts and predictions of the 8th generation of gaming. Now with Nintendo already getting a head start with this generation thanks to the 3DS and Wii U and Sony already showing what they have in store with the Vita and the upcoming PS4, it looks like Microsoft's work has been cut out for them and while we are yet to see what the PS4 and 720 (or whatever it's called) look like, this is what I feel each company needs to do in order to impress us gamers, so I'll start with Nintendo:

Nintendo really have to up their game in this generation as they only just survived the last one. Fortunately, the Wii U is the way forward with it's innovative approach to gaming. It has a tablet based controller, the most up-to-date HD graphics and a big focus on social interaction with Miiverse. All I can say to Nintendo, is to keep up with it's competitors as much as possible with their technology and to keep the Wii U as a hardcore console and less of a casual console because the sales will go up that way. As for the 3DS, I don't see any problems with that for the time being, as long as there's some quality games for it. Overall, keep up the good work Nintendo and whatever you do, don't screw up anywhere with your consoles. Next it's Sony:

Sony won't have any problems in this generation, from my point of view. They've really out done themselves when they announced the PS4 with a new(ish) controller (and personally it could be better) and a big focus on social interaction. What I do like, is that they obviously want to continue to make gamers happy and they want to allow players to help other players during certain portions of a game and with a number of great titles coming to the PS4 such as Watch Dogs, inFamous: Second Son and The Witness (along with a number of sequels and imported games), the future of PlayStation looks like to be a promising one. Now as for the Vita, it needs to improve on a number of things like the games, the functionality of it and so on, but as long as there's some great games for it, it should be fine. Overall, Sony should have no problem with this generation of gaming (well there is of course maybe having some female presenters instead of just males). Finally we have Microsoft:

Now as Microsoft have told us nothing about their next console, so all we can do is make predictions and wait. So for this generation, Microsoft really need to get gamers back into playing on their stuff with less guns and more quality in their games. The Kinect was an innovative product, but I strongly think that it should be forgotten because of how complicated developing a game is for the thing. Also, make online gaming free for everyone because not all of us can spend a vast amount of money just to get online and whenever you do presentations, less demonstrations on the Kinect and more of a focus on the announcements because the last few presentations sucked, a lot and it was all because all you Microsoft people don't care about what we as gamers want. All you care about is making money off things that nobody wants, so less of that please. Overall, Microsoft really need to impress us with their new console because it could in theory end their gaming life cycle (well for the home console anyway, the PC is doing fine) if they don't do well.

So really, it's Microsoft that are suffering right now. Sony should do well in this generation and the same for Nintendo. Just less of the gimmicks, the games that no one wants and the bad approach to gaming. But more quality games and for god's sake, listen to the gamers. That's all I have to say.
