Random Movie Review - WALL-E

Now among the many Pixar films out there, I think no one really did not know what to say about this film and honestly, I felt the same way when I first saw it. But having seen it a few times now, it just goes to show that even after the some what let down that Cars did, Pixar just continue to bring us fresh and new ideas with all the known Easter eggs that they have and less of the popular culture references that other animated films have (yes Ice Age, I'm looking at you) each time with every film that they create. Now WALL-E is basically thier take on the Sci-Fi genre and to be honest, they've done a pretty good job with it. But let's now move into the story itself:

In the year 2805, humanity has left Earth due to the mass amount of garbage in the world which a company called BnL are dealing with by sending out some WALL-E robots to clean up the mess. Humanity left 700 hundred years ago on a massive space ship (which by the way, isn't really that impressive as it just looks like a boat that's been stabbed up the backside with a stick) called the Axiom. Over the course of the 700 years, the majority of the robots have been destroyed and became dysfunctional after a long period of time, except for one. The one remaining WALL-E unit has been able to survive this long by using parts from the other machines to keep him going and as such, he has gained some intelligence and has built a home for himself where he stores any human artifacts and spare robotic parts. One day, he comes across some sort of plant and it isn't long before another robot called EVE gets sent down by the Axiom to collect it. When she meets WALL-E, it isn't long before they develop some kind of friendship, until she claims the plant that is. With WALL-E holding for dear life, he and EVE (who is in the ship that WALL-E is holding on to) then set course for the Axiom, but upon arrival, things aren't quite the way they used to be and it's up to both EVE and WALL-E to deliver the plant to the area of the ship that it needs to be at, before it's too late.

Overall, this film is surprisingly a good film. It's the closest you'll get to see real people in a Pixar and even any CGI film to date and Pixar don't screw up with that which is OK  Its very clear that this film had a lot of work done on it as it's been in development since the first Toy Story film, but unlike other long time developed films, this is actually a great film. It pays tribute to the many sound effects used in Disney films and honestly, WALL-E could well be the new R2-D2, but we'll see. If Pixar keeps this up, we can expect more great things from them in the future. 9/10
