For those of you who like Assassin's Creed (or assassins in general), you'll definitely love this film. This is one of those rare films that you don't think much of to begin with, and you're then pleasantly surprised when you see it. That was my initial feeling when I saw this film and I thought that it was good for what it's purpose was. Let's go deeper:
The film focuses on the character, dead-end desk job worker Wesley Gibson (played by what I think is the only Scottish actor in the whole film, James McAvoy) and he has a very bad life with a cheating girlfriend, an overbearing boss and has to take some form of drugs to prevent panic attacks. However, his life is about to get more interesting when a woman called Fox (played by Angelina Jolie) tells him about his father being an assassin who died at the hands of a rouge assassin by the name, Cross (played by Thomas Kretschmann) who as of now is after Wesley. After a shootout and a car chase (among a few other action packed bits), Fox takes Wesley to a league of assassins called The Fraternity. To begin with, Wesley chooses not to join, but when he snaps at the office he works in, he then decides to join this league of assassins. Will he succeed in becoming an assassin and who is Cross really?
In my honest opinion, I actually liked this film. Its very action packed, shows one of the many scenarios that makes a desk job boring and just plain bad and the acting is very good as well. Its also got some of the best visuals in film and I loved every minute of it. 9/10
