Video Game Review - Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix

Now to begin with, I wasn't really thinking of doing a review of this HD compilation seeing as I've already reviewed the games that are in this compilation already. However, except for 358/2 Days, those were footage reviews so it felt only fair that I review them as games that I have now actually played so let's dig in to it:

So as I've already reviewed the games, I'm just going to express my opinions on the gameplay, the features it has on the PS3 and the 358/2 Days "sort of" cinematic movie. Both KH and Chain of Memories are great games. It shows that the game creators did their research on the many Disney films out there and have made some pretty decent worlds based on those films, some of them following the story of the film with elements of the game Incorporated into it, and some of them being solely focused on the Kingdom Hearts story. The characters are great and very likable (which can be quite rare in most games these days) and even though the games are showing their age along with a few minor technical blimps, the HD graphics and the trophy support make up for it and it looks great. Only problem that I have is Chain of Memories looks to be like a very restricted game in that the card system may limit the stuff you can do in the game once you've used all the cards and its not as great as its predecessor, but still manages to be good nevertheless. Now as for the 358/2 Days film, it manages to do a great job of retelling the DS game in movie form with some old and new cinematics and some bits of text which is the bit that makes up what would've been the gameplay which may look like a lazy way to do a film, but nevertheless keeps to the story at hand.

So if you missed out on 3 of the Kingdom Hearts games that were released on PS2 and DS, this is the perfect chance to play them and catch up with the story. Now all we need is a second HD compilation with Kingdom Hearts 2 and maybe Birth by Sleep and Coded and then players just need to play Dream Drop Distance in preparation for Kingdom Hearts 3. 8/10
