Got a lot of news to get through this week so let's get to it:
Celebrity News (yeah you don't see me do those a lot) - Richard Attenborourgh's Passing
Some of you don't know this guy, but he wasn't in as many well known films as Robin Williams was so its understandable if you don't know him. Basically, he was the old bearded fellow in some of the Jurassic Park films and also played Kris Kringle in the 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street. He also had small roles in the 1996 film version of Hamlet and the original Doctor Dolittle (no not the Eddie Murphy one, the actual original 1967 film). But basically, this guy was an actor who didn't have the impact that Robin Williams did, but still, he's a well respected actor who has been honoured for many things and interesting fact, he came from my hometown in the UK. I feel gutted that I never had the chance to meet this guy from that fact alone, but I do like him as an actor and he will be remembered not by everyone, but those who were bought up loving films like Jurassic Park and Miracle on 34th Street. All I will say to those who disrespect him is grow a heart and just grow up in general and start to appreciate actors like him because yes he may not be as well known as Robin Williams, but is very loved by many.
Nintendo News - New 3DS, DLC Packs for Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros.
Now onto something less sad. This week, Nintendo made several announcements, some of which were in a Japan exclusive Nintendo Direct and others completely separate. First off, we have 2 new 3DS consoles on the way that are expected to be faster, more powerful and have a longer battery life than the 3DS, XL and 2DS. In addition, they both have extra buttons which merge 3DS peripherals like the second thumbstick, into the console itself and are even very reminiscent of old Nintendo consoles like the SNES. Also, this week saw the launch of a planned update for Mario Kart 8 as well as the free Mercedes DLC that gives players the chance to use 3 well known Mercedes cars in the game. Not only that, but Nintendo also gave players the ability to pre-order 2 upcoming DLC packs each containing 3 racers, 4 vehicles and 8 tracks. The first, known as The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8 will have Cat Mario, Cat Peach and Link as playable characters, the Blue Falcon from F-Zero as a kart and Zelda, F-Zero and Excitebike inspired stages and cups as well as several other unconfirmed things as well (out November 2014). The second, known as Animal Crossing X Mario Kart 8 will have the Villager, Isabelle and Dry Bowser as playable characters and some Animal Crossing inspired stages with some other unconfirmed things. Lastly, following a leak of the full character roster which many have presumed to be fake and Nintendo have since removed from the Internet (which might hint to something), Nintendo now confirms that Shulk from Xenoblade will be a playable newcomer in Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. All that, and only Japan get the Direct. Oh well, I guess the rest of the world will get a similar one soon in the near future. Oh and Nintendo now apparently hate Casual gamers for some reason.
In other news, Star Wars 7 filming is back on track now that Harrison Ford has fully recovered from his leg injury, Xbox One gets its next update that adds a media player among other things, Kung Fu Panda 3 images get leaked (really guys. You just can't be patient can you), Unity is delayed to November but Rouge is still on track, even though we aren't getting a Pixar film this year we're still getting a small preview of their next film and everyone is doing this Ice Bucket Challenge (don't worry, I've been nominated so I have to do it at some point).
Now onto the week's film and video game releases in most areas:
Films:
As Above, So Below (Released in most areas with more to follow
Video Games:
Madden NFL 15 (PS3, PS4, 360 and XB1) (North America and Europe only)
Walking Dead: Season 2 - Episode 5: No Going Back (All current platforms except Nintendo) (Worldwide)
