So unlike Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which started off slowly but gradually became a favourite show of mine, Gotham has seemed to be able to start off pretty strong with a good set of characters as well has having the ability to establish not all but most of the main characters (James Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne and Penguin especially) as well as what the show will be about which is basically telling the origins of what would become Bruce Wayne's enemies when he becomes Batman and it looks like this series will have a heavy focus on Penguin's origins which I personally thought was the right way to go seeing as he's only ever had an origin story in Batman Returns and possibly some of the not so well known Batman comics. So with that said, let's take a look at this episode and see if it continues to be as strong as the pilot:
So Gordon and his partner Bullock investigate a child-trafficking ring where children living on the streets get kidnapped by people who serve the Dollmaker (who by the way is the name of 3 DC super villains, the more recent being part of the New 52 which judging that he was introduced in Detective Comics, is likely to be a villain of Batman) but going undercover as members of the mayor's homeless outreach program. Meanwhile, Oswald is on the run from Gotham and takes refuge in a trailer in what looks like to be the middle of nowhere. With all this child abduction going on, its up to Gordon and Bullock to find the Dollmaker and put an end to him before any more children get abducted.
In some way, I feel that the name of the episode is only slightly misleading as you do get to see Selina Kyle in action, but not for a great amount of the episode. But considering that she is one of the abducted children, it kind of makes sense. Anyway, another great episode with a lot of drama and suspense and I'm enjoying it more and more as the series unfolds. 9/10
