So I think after several posts, its kind of repetitive and not really that surprising that I do LEGO posts for every 100 posts that I reach and I do plan to stop doing these once I reach 1000 posts if I ever reach that far. So having reviewed LEGO sets, LEGO films, LEGO video games and some LEGO UCE sets, I now look at not all but some of the LEGO Books that are out there so let's take a look:
The Ultimate LEGO Book
So since the 90s, LEGO had what I can only say was an exclusive deal with book publisher Dorling Kingsley (or DK for short) who to this day, have published the majority of LEGO books (excluding a select few of them) and still do so. This book is by far, the earliest and most oldest of the books on this list. As its name implies, it explains things like the history of LEGO from when it only did wooden toys to what it does now, the different sets and themes, the other merchandise that LEGO make and of course, their LEGOLAND theme parks. Its hard to get hold of these days because of how old it is, but at the time, it was a great read that explained everything that anyone wants to know about LEGO from those early days and was defiantly worth the money, especially if you're a LEGO fan. 9/10
The LEGO Book (2012 version)
So just over 10 years later after the release of the first big LEGO book, DK then released another one and 2 years later, this very one that I'm going to tell you about today. Because of the length of time its been since the first book came out, a lot has happened so not only do you get the same stuff as before, but you also get to read on the many licensed sets that LEGO have had over the years aside from Star Wars, the films that LEGO have been involved in and other things as well. In my opinion, its defiantly a much more detailed and bigger book than the Ultimate one was as a lot has happened since that book's release. I think its a great book that explores more to do with LEGO and includes the 00s in there as well as the old days too which I like a lot. 9/10
LEGO Minifigure: Year By Year
So one of the most popular things that LEGO have made over the years are the minifigures. These are the little movable characters that you can get in pretty much the majority of LEGO sets and this book goes through every one of them from the early days to now in a year by year fashion. What's notable about this book is that while the book is strictly all about LEGO minifigures, it does have some little inconsistencies such as calling figures like Hulk non-minifigures despite having elements of said thing among other things too, but for the most part, its pretty accurate. It's the only DK book so far that gives you three physical minifigures instead of one with each one representing certain time periods for LEGO. It is yet another great book that talks about the titular LEGO element that makes LEGO toys, worth it, despite the inconsistencies that it contains. 8/10
LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary (2014 version)
So I now finish this post by looking at a more recent book and the only book on this list that talks about a licensed property that LEGO make toys based on. This is all about Star Wars, the franchise that made George Lucas a big name, but also showed everyone that he is too much of a perfectionist. That aside, this book talks about the many LEGO sets that have been made based on Star Wars including those based on The Original Trilogy, The Prequel Trilogy, The Clone Wars and the Expanded Universe as well as talking about how the theme was able to spawn its own TV show called The Yoda Chronicles. It is by far, the most popular of LEGO's licensed themes and its certainly a great book that details the majority of them, while also giving us a free Luke Skywalker minifigure to play with. 9/10
And there you have it. So after 800 posts with every 100 posts being a LEGO one, where do I go from here. Well I still have some more ideas for LEGO posts, but trust me when I say this, I am going to stop doing them every time there's a 100th post coming when I reach 1000 posts and that is a promise.
