Let's see what's been happening this week:
Nintendo/Sony News - Super Mario film in the works
Because video game companies these days keep promising us that there will be films based on their video games and build up a lot of hype for them, it was no surprise that a leak of emails would reveal that Nintendo and Sony are making a Mario film. Now to me, this isn't that surprising as many of our favourite video games are getting films. I mean Ubisoft have plans to make Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed and Rabbids films (with the AC one coming out next year) and I'm sure many others are trying to do the same. But what is surprising is that of all the people they could talk to about it, Sony is the one they go for. Now some of you may not know this, but back in the N64 days, Nintendo and Sony were partnered up to make the PS1 but Nintendo betrayed Sony by opting to work with Phillips, but I think we all know how that ended. So what does this mean? It could mean anything. It could mean that Nintendo and Sony have made amends and could potentially team up and rise against Microsoft and the mobile market. That I would happily pay good money for. But I can only dream. But anyway, so while Nintendo and Sony have yet to make any comment or official word of this, it seems Hollywood feels more confident about making video game films and try to make them not be what they were in the past. But I think there will be some very stiff competition because we've got Phase 3 of the MCU, the DCCU being in full swing and a number of other great films too.
In other news, FOX are making a theme park as are the BBC, Mortal Kombat X won't be having Babalities, a Mass Effect Trilogy for PS4 and Xbox One might be in the works according to developers, YouTube have their rewind video for the year uploaded containing things like the Ice Bucket Challenge and people singing Let It Go, Ubisoft are back on track for sorting all the problems that Unity has thus far, Angry Birds celebrate their 5th year anniversary, a man gets over 200 characters from the Simpsons tattooed on his back and in addition to the highlight above it seems that these emails were all part of a Sony hack and reveal many unanounced plans and other things too but as we all know its not the first time that Sony got hacked.
Now for the week's film and video game releases:
Films:
Exodus: Gods and Kings (Some areas with a lot more to follow in the coming weeks)
The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies (Most areas with more to follow. Review coming soon)
Video Games:
The Talos Principle (All current computer platforms) (Worldwide)
