So apparently there was this day called Mario Day. Why did no one tell me this?! Well anyway, let's see what's been happening this week:
Discworld News - Terry Pratchett now walking with Death
So it is with great sorrow that us British have lost one of the best writers that ever lived. For those of you who don't know, Terry Pratchett was the creator of the Discworld novel series which is all about stuff that happens in a world that is flat and round like a disc and is on top of a few elephants which in turn are on top of a large sea turtle that journeys round the Earth. Much like with Harry Potter and Middle-Earth, its a fantasy series with things like magic, odd creatures and so on. In addition to books, there have been 3 televised mini-series (and good ones at that, unlike Stephen King's lot) based on 3 of the many books among other things too. Anyway, so this past week, he died at the young old age of 66 after battling Alzheimer's Disease (from what Wikipedia and other sources are saying). One of the characters he has created in his books is someone called death who much like with the Grim Reaper, is pretty much the same person and so I guess he will be walking with him now. In my eyes, he is one of the most influential writers of all time, having had a place in many of our childhoods and it looks like Discworld fans and Trekkies can morun together. RIP Terry Pratchett
Now whether I do a post dedicated to his work, I will need to have a long think about, considering there is a lot of that out there, but we'll see.
In other more lighthearted(ish) news, the upcoming Mortal Kombat X will have Jason from Friday the 13th as a fighter (ironic considering that it's Friday the 13th today and that Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street appeared in the last game) in the form of DLC, Ghostbusters is to have a universe much like the MCU (apparently it was an idea originally thought of by Dan Aykroyd when the first 2 films came out, but only now does it actually happen with Sony presumably giving him and others creative control over the matter), Mass Effect trilogy for PS4 and Xbone may not be coming out as originally planned according to a questionnaire that was cut short by BioWare and Tim Burton is to direct the live action remake of Dumbo following an announcement by Disney.
Now onto the week's film and video game releases in most areas:
Films:
Cinderella (Most areas with many more to follow. May review this if I have time to)
Run All Night (Some areas with more to follow)
Video Games:
Shelter 2 (Win, MAC OS X and Linux) (Worldwide)
Cities: Skylines (same platforms as above) (Worldwide)
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number (same as above and all current PlayStation platforms) (Worldwide)
Ori and the Blind Forest (Win and Xbone. Coming soon to X360) (Worldwide)
Sid Meier's Starships (Win, OS X and iOS) (Worldwide)
