Review of the Week

Well guys, I hope that you're all having a good Easter. Unfortunately, as there is little to nothing that I can talk about on this blog for Easter, there will be no post. So let's see what's been happening this week:

Nintendo News - Direct Report
Oh boy, there is a lot to talk about here. Of all the days to pick, they chose April Fools Day so chances are that many of us were thinking that Nintendo would be fooling us big time, but it just so happens that after the Direct, I looked up on some of the stuff they were saying and based on what I saw, its all real despite the day it was on. There's a lot more amiibo on the way including some new Smash Bros. ones and some for Yoshi's Epic Yarn (which fully embraces the yarn element of the game which is nice) and Splatoon as well as a few more games using the amiibos and ones who use them already now being compatible with a lot more of them. Mario Kart 8 will be getting the Animal Crossing DLC a month earlier than planned and will be out later this month as will be an update to give players the 200cc driving class (the fastest that the series has ever had) and more amiibos will be compatible with the game too. Mewtwo will be coming to Smash Bros. later in the month and will be free to Club Nintendo owners who registered both games before the end of last month and will cost around £5 (or whatever currency you get) for everyone else. Lucas will also be joining at some stage and fans can suggest characters for Nintendo to put into the game via the official website. The game will also be getting an update very soon. DS and N64 games will be coming to the Wii U virtual console very soon and a whole load of other stuff is coming too. It was one big Direct and chances are that it will be the last we hear from Nintendo until E3 so we've got a lot of stuff to look forward too until then (but if you want to get amiibos, you better start ordering them as they sell like hot cakes).

Now as the 1st April which was the Wednesday that just gone was April Fools Day, there is a lot of news out there that is false which I will try to address. Steven Moffat is still the showrunner for Doctor Who and not John Barrowman, Geroge Lucas has not reacquired the rights of Star Wars, Other Joe isn't taking over from Angry Joe on the Angry Joe Show, the next Ace Attorney game will not be having dogs in it, Dance Central has not gone all romantic. Basically any article or the like that you come across which is dated April 1st, is not real, its fake (except for the above Nintendo news which despite the date, is real). The real news that has happened this week is that del Toro doesn't feel committed to do any Justice League film any time soon, Steven Moffat announces and upsets fans that a Doctor Who film nor a Sherlock crossover will not be happening any time soon and a new trilogy of Assassin's Creed games called the Assassin's Creed Chronicles is on the way with the first entry coming out later this month.

Now onto the week's film and video game releases:

Films:
Fast & Furious 7 (Most areas with a handful more to follow. Review coming soon)

Video Games:
Axiom Verge (PS4, PSV and Win) (Worldwide)
MLB 15: The Show (all current PlayStation consoles) (Worldwide)
War for the Overworld (Win, OX X and Linux) (Worldwide)

Movie Review - Inside Out 2
