Movie Review - Minions

This was inevitable. After 2 successful Despicable Me films, everyone knew that the Minions, being the most popular characters that they are, have to have their own film and we get just that and I have to say, its surprisingly good. Let's take a look shall we:

So the film begins with pretty much everything we saw in the first trailer, just expanded upon slightly where we find out about the Minions and their ultimate goal of finding a master to serve. After failing countless times even after finding some kind of sanctuary, 3 of the Minions who are Kevin, Stuart and Bob (they and the other Minions are all voiced by Pierre Coffin) set out to find a new master, leading them to New York 42 years before Gru as they go on some wacky adventure to find a new master.

The film I thought was great. Its good to see the Minions finally get their own film and even though this serves as both a prequel and spin-off to Despicable Me, it manages to stand on its own. I love the designs of the many villains who mostly are either original designs or are loosely based on already established villains like The Creature From The Black Lagoon to name just a few. I also like how the film is able to keep up with historical events that happened in the late 60s/early 70s like the famous Beatles album cover, Nixon as president and a few others. And the soundtrack is great if you're into rock music that came out in those two decades. 9/10
