AC23: Random Movie Review - Tangled

Its Disney's 50th animated film in their long line of animated classics and also the film that had the studio change the way they make their animated films which is to make them fully CGI, put retain the paintbrush style of their earlier films. It didn't go entirely well the first couple of times, but Tangled was the film that made it perfect. Now Disney spent many years trying to adapt Rapunzel into a film with little to no success and well they have succeeded here with having the film only loosely based on the story and for what its worth, it works. Let's climb up that hair and review this thing:

So the story is kind of a kidnapping story where the villain (in this case, a witch) kidnaps a baby girl with healing powers from a kingdom and once every year, her parents send sky lanterns up in the sky in the hopes that she would return. Years later and this girl who has become a woman is longing for the day to leave the witch's home, but the witch under the disguise of a motherly figure refuses time and time again. That is until a robber enters the scene and the girl sends the witch off on a 3 day trip and she along with the robber escape to find her parents and well lets just say some loving among other things take place.

Much like with most Disney films, this has a prince and a princess which have no doubt been made into countless fan art since the release of this film. And as one of Disney's many attempts to get CGI right without Pixar's help, they got it spot on here. But despite that, is the film any good? Well, I'd say yes. Its one of Disney's best animated films in recent times and certainly one that helped a great deal with getting the CGI to the perfection that Disney would be after and would then be used in later films such as Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen and Big Hero 6 to name a few. 9/10
