Video Game Review - Fire Emblem Heroes

I'll be honest. Outside of Smash Bros. I've never actually played any Fire Emblem games but heard a lot of good things about them. I do hope to get into the games one day and to kick off, I decided to look at the first mobile game for the franchise (which I assume is part of Nintendo's move into the mobile gaming market while still doing games for their own devices) and if I'm being honest, Its actually pretty good. When compared to Nintendo's other mobile games like Miitomo and Pokemon Go, I'd say this one has more depth in it and actually has a story to go with it rather than something more open ended. So let's take a look at it:

So in keeping with the tradition of the games, the game is a turn based tactical RPG in which you move your warriors (which are of course characters from the franchise) into position to take on your enemies and anything else that can get in your way. Two modes are available which are story mode and online mode with the latter allowing you to battle against other players and the former following some kind of story that takes place sometime in the lore of the franchise. And you can pick up to 4 heroes for each battle and can acquire more through using the in game credit known as orbs which like most mobile games can be acquired via completing missions or via in app purchases.

Its a pretty decent game with no flaws as such. That is except for the online function where you have to have an online connection to play it. Not a bad thing, but isn't great if you live in an area that doesn't have a great connection. That and it also follows familiar trends that other mobile games follow like in app purchases and recoveries not being as quick as you'd want them to be. But aside from all that, its a pretty decent game and one that I'm sure Fire Emblem fans will enjoy. 7/10
