This was going to happen sooner or later. I mean with the rise of virtual reality going mainstream, it would be inevitable that we would get a taste for getting a Batman experience like no other. But after some incredible games and supporting media, I honestly thought Rocksteady and WB Games would be done. I guess not. Well anyway, let's put on the cowl and be the Batman once again:
Taking place at an undisclosed time between Arkham City and Arkham Knight, Bruce Wayne (reprised by the legendary Kevin Conroy) wakes up from having a nightmare about his parents' murder. He is then informed by Alfred (this time voiced by Hugh Fraser) about an urgent situation that requires his attention. Putting on the Batsuit and entering the Batcave via a secret entrance, Batman is then made aware that both Robin (Tim Drake, this time voiced by Tom Austen) and Nightwing have gone missing and so Batman sets out to find them, unaware of what's really going on inside him.
This game has a very twisted and pretty unusual story which you often don't see much of in most Batman stories. From a VR perspective, it's a brand new experience that we never quite got in the mainstream Arkham games and its actually a pretty good experience. OK so you don't get to fight like Batman, but you can use his detective skills to solve this mystery and a whole host of other things too. Is it the best Arkham game overall? Well no, but it is a new experience that's worth checking out if you have a VR headset and controllers. 8/10
