TV Season Review - The Punisher (Season 1)

So if this year has taught me anything, its that Marvel tend to be very good with their films, but not so good with their TV shows both on Netflix and on live TV (wherever you are). So the appearance of the Punisher in season 2 of Daredevil was met with a mostly positive reception and its probably just as well considering that previous attempts at doing a live action Punisher thing whether it be film or TV show have mostly all sucked big time. Which of course led to Marvel taking the rights back to create its own version fit into the MCU. So let's see if this is better than the films or just another bad Marvel show that they need punishing for:

Picking up after season 2 of Daredevil, Frank Castle (aka the Punisher, reprised by Jon Bernthal a well know zombie killer) has succeeded in taking down and killing the people responsible for his family's death and keeps a low profile in New York city taking the name Pete Castiglione. But he soon enough uncovers a large conspiracy that haunts him and sets out to do some punishing with some help from old and new allies. Unaware that he is about to take on a high ranking crime family of sorts.

As Marvel's potentially last Netflix show before becoming part of Disney's own streaming service, its ok. It is better than Iron Fist as the pacing does start out slow, but picks up much quicker than Iron Fist ever did. Its also pretty dark and brutal at points, but I guess that's how the Punisher is. I'm basically judging it as its own thing rather than comparing it to the films which at the time of writing this, I have not seen and probably will never see considering how bad they apparently were. So yes it is a good show that's worth watching, but best if you don't eat anything as you watch it because there are parts that are pretty gross even for me. 8/10
