Top 20 Worlds to appear in future Kingdom Hearts games (Fox Edition)

So the deal has finished and now Disney officially own not all but most of Fox and its huge library of films, TV shows and video games. So I thought it be time to look at the possibility of there being worlds based on some Fox franchises that could appear in future Kingdom Hearts games. Now I like to say that while I have already done a list of worlds already, those are just for Disney and small fry companies like Pixar, Marvel, LucasFilm and Studio Ghibli that they either own or have some rights too. Fox meanwhile is a major studio who equal Disney in terms of how much stuff they create and produce every year. So naturally it be next to impossible to include Fox worlds in that same list given how many films they have made over the years. So the rules for the list are that it must obviously be a Fox franchise of some capacity, I have to had watched/played some or all of it and it must be a good fit for the games in terms of gameplay and story which was something I personally failed to get my head around in the original list. Both lists will be updated over time to make way for any more franchises that I feel would be a good fit, though this one will be strictly Fox and the other one will be for everyone else. Another rule that must be mentioned is that it should be of a child friendly nature (so basically anything that either has a 12 rating or its international equivalent and below) while allowing itself for some emotional baggage that the series has been known for. So let's see what Fox can provide us:

Another important thing to mention is that as Tetsuya Nomura is quite particular with franchises in the series, there is no guarantee that all these franchises listed will indeed appear. Now let's begin and be ready for some spoilers to certain franchises.

20 - Springfield (The Simpsons)
Now when people think about what Fox franchise to include in the games, the first one everyone thinks of is The Simpsons. Out of all the animated American sitcoms that Fox have at their disposal, The Simpsons as controversial as it's known to be is the one that can be enjoyed by both adults and families which would mean it can be part of the games. But because its a TV show with well over six hundred episodes, it would most likely have its own original story. Obviously the main trio of heroes would appear as themselves (though Sora may choose to be yellow) and because of the huge cast of characters, chances are that it will have the main characters and a select few side characters depending on who they can get in the cast. Dan Castellaneta previously voiced the Genie in previous games so I'm sure he would want to return for this. Now as for the story, I'm thinking along the lines of a similar scenario that we got in the Toy Story world in the third numbered game in which the Simpsons and some select other characters are trapped in one version of Springfield and need to get back somehow. But because of how stupid most of them are (with the exception of Lisa of course and some others), that would make their hearts vulnerable to an extent. I would also love to see Sora and the gang have Homer and Bart as party members or the whole family if hardware allows it. It is the most obvious idea that anyone would think of when doing a list, but personally there are many others that could work too.

19 - Communist Russia (Anastasia)
Although Disney already have their own line of official princesses, I'm still puzzled as to why there are some characters from their now bigger than ever library of films that are not considered an official Disney princess. I mean sure they were never Disney's creations to begin with which is fair enough. But what is stopping them is puzzling me. Anyway, so many years ago when Disney were conquering the planet with their traditionally animated films, studios like Fox wanted a piece of the action and we got this film Anastasia which is based on historical events, but more fictional than keeping things accurate. Many of us remember it for having that awesome villain song that would fit well with a Meatloaf sequence and just of how good it was generally. I think if it were to appear in the games, it would follow the plot of the film loosely which is pretty much what is to be expected with this one. I could also see Anastasia herself being one of the seven hearts, but then begs the question as to who if anyone could act as a party member to the heroes. Then of course we got the main villain who can easily summon Heartless or become one himself. Well that's really up to the creators, but its a good choice in my opinion.

18 - Land of the Gobbos (Croc)
Although highly unlikely whatever happens in the series going forward, we have to remind ourselves that Fox did in fact have their own video game brand which went on to acquire many properties and unintentionally tarnish any chance of some PlayStation characters appearing in PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale. And out of those video games that they distributed, Croc seems like the best fit for the series. Its as child friendly as you are going to get, its one of the few on this list where the heroes may need to adapt their appearances to keep order. Plus with the idea of the games being about saving those little Gobbos, it could all depend on the heroes saving them all in a quest similar to that one with the 101 Dalmatians in the very first game. It would be nice to see a video game other than Final Fantasy or The World Ends with You be seen here, but again its unlikely that it will be Croc. But we can still hope and dream if nothing else.

17 - The Ice Age (Ice Age)
Although the series has already had some snowy worlds already (the biggest one obviously being Frozen in the third numbered game), there's always room for more and Ice Age could be a good fit. It probably won't bring any firsts to the series in general, but seeing the heroes interact with the Ice Age characters (in particular Scrat) could lead to some unintentionally epic moments like in some of the films. As its already somehow had at least five films, I would probably expect this world to have its own original story featuring the main characters and their quest to get the Herd from one place to another while Sora and the gang keep the Heartless out of their way. And also the three main male protagonists could very easily be great party members with Diego already being a skilled sabre tooth tiger, Manny bringing in the heavy artillery and Sid just being Sid. And although humans do exist in this world, the heroes will likely take the form of animals much like when they vistied the Pride Lands, just being a bit more prehistoric this time. I hope it works and here's hoping that its better than the later films.

16 - New New York (Futurama)
Yeah this was another one that I would expect to see in the series. So we all know that Futurama is done and dusted with an unlikely chance of it ever returning to the small screen. But some of us who want to keep it alive want it to also appear in a future (no pun intended) game in the series. Like The Simpsons, its probably going to have its own original story with Leela, Bender and Fry all being party members because that's what we all want. And I would love it to have a story about the Planet Express crew (along with the heroes) delivering something but only to find out that the receiver is none other than some bad guy wanting to cause chaos to the universe. That or something a bit more close to home like time travel or the like. Whatever happens, if The Simpsons makes it then Futurama is likely to be just around the corner if nothing else.

15 - Madison (Goosebumps)
Now there is some conflicting information about Goosebumps. Fox currently have the North American distribution rights to the TV series and that's it. Despite this, I personally feel it would be a good fit into the series. But because of the overall series being based on books that have multiple endings, the story would involve the heroes getting trapped in a labyrinth with multiple ways out. Of course they would tackle Heartless like beings from the books themselves but ultimately finding their way out using their hearts as it were. So yeah it be a good fit as either a world or a sub world, but unlikely given the distribution rights and the films being done by Sony of all people.

14 - Barnum's American Museum (The Greatest Showman)
Seeing as the third numbered game contained many of the more recent films Disney have made, it would only make sense that we'd get some worlds based on recent Fox films as well and one I think would be a great or greatest fit is one based on The Greatest Showman. I know some companies may have some reservations on making games based on historical events (which hasn't stopped some granted, but my point still stands), but I think a world like this could work. I mean it is about acceptance into society with much of the characters trying to keep their hearts in the light, but too much hatred around the area makes it an easy target for in this scenario the Unversed as they feed on negative emotions. Plus the arrival of the heroes and them helping the unusual people get through a time where equal rights was non-existent. But of course it can't be complete unless it has a few of the musical numbers but done in a way that helps the story like how the Frozen world played out.

13 - The Peanuts Book (The Peanuts Movie)
Visiting Pooh Bear and friends has become a staple in the series ever since the very first game so of course the tradition should continue. But maybe its time to have another sub world within a book and one that comes to mind is one based on the world of Charlie Brown and Snoopy. Now yes it is true that Fox only ever distributed that one film not too long ago, but it has the makings of being like a Pooh world where its all sweet and innocent without a Heartless in sight. Plus it be interesting to see how Sora copes with the adults mumbling as well as his interactions with the characters. Its a good concept, but like Goosebumps the chances of its appearance are slim due to some authors not wanting to exploit their work too much.

12 - Whoville (Horton Hears a Who!)
With Universal making a number of newer takes on the many works of Dr. Seuss with Illumination Entertainment, there is probably no chance that any that Fox did will appear at all in the series. But if Horton Hears a Who! appears, it can lead to a lot of possibilities. For starters, there is the obvious problem of Horton hearing the town of Whoville in that speck of his and all the surrounding animals being in disbelief of a town existing in such a thing. And then comes the heroes who believe his story and try and save the town before the animals (and presumably the Heartless coming out of them) come to destroy it. Ultimately, its one of these worlds where the film's plot could actually work with the overall events of the game and I hope it does appear in the series at some point. But again the chances of that are unlikely.

11 - Robot City (Robots)
You know although I have mentioned a few already, not many people will remember that Blue Sky did in face make films that weren't Ice Age. But while we all remember most of them, one that many of us may have forgotten about is Robots. A simple story about this one robot who wants to sell his invention to this big high up company, but learns some horrible truths about it. We already know that Toy Story showed that when something "figures it out", life can be put into almost anything and its the same with robots. Whats more is that this would be an interesting world that would see our heroes appear as robots which in a way would be a first for the series and the gameplay element of riding on that one big round robot and knocking things over. It could work well not to mention that the main villain may want to experiment around here too. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

10 - FernGully (FernGully: The Last Rainforest)
There is no words that can explain how great of a match a world based on Ferngully would be in the series. I mean it's an animated film that like Anastasia came close to mimicking the style of Disney's own works and it was a success when it came out. Plus the main villain Hexxus is for all the right reasons the embodiment of darkness and would make a great boss for the heroes to fight if not for the great threat he poses to the world. So yeah I think Ferngully would be great in Kingdom Hearts so make it happen Square Enix!

9 - Berk's Squab Farm (Fantastic Mr. Fox)
I think we all know how this plays out. Sora, Donald and Goofy (disguised as wildlife critters) would team up with the titular hero and the film's plot (which is as accurate to the book as it can get mind you) would play out with the three having a part to play in Mr. Fox's overall plan even though they probably won't like what's about to happen. We've seen the three half pints in all sorts of disguises and while being animals isn't anything new, it would make some interesting banter and jokes just seeing them play out like that. So yeah let's see a Mr. Fox world happen and full of enemies to battle too.

8 - 2035 (I, Robot)
Its not a perfect film I'll admit. Nor does it bring something new to the series. But what a world based on I, Robot would do is give the three heroes a chance to explore a dark and somewhat depressing dystopian world (much like The Grid in a way) compared to what they have seen before. Its another easy target for the villains and one that can be quite disastrous if any of the robots are put into the wrong hands. And of course Sora and Co. would be able to team up with both Will Smith's character and the robot Sonny who both can offer a few different things for gameplay and also give Sora and Co. some insiders on the world from two perspectives. Unlikely yes, but one of the more interesting worlds if it ever appeared in the series.

7 - Rio (Rio)
The last of Blue Sky's films in this list and the one that I'm more keen to see in the series than the others. For starters while Donald will remain largely the same, Sora and Goofy meanwhile will have to become birds to fit in with the crowd here. And because of the shenanigans that occur, its highly unlikely that the heroes and even the villains will be able to catch a break all because there is always something happening in Rio. Still though the thought of flying without pixie dust or the floating ability could make for some familiar but otherwise good gameplay. Lots of fun to be had here for sure.

6 - The Natural History Museum (Night At the Museum)
Although we were promised that the worlds in the third numbered game would be big, the Monsters Inc. world felt the most tightly squeezed in that the world was basically just the actual factory and not all of Monstropolis with the possibility of seeing other worlds in doors being dashed away with blank loading screens in their place. Yeah it was a disappointment, but I think there is one world that could work in that kind of scenario. So the Night at the Museum films are a bit of fun and somewhat educational and it would kind of continue the trend we got going here of inanimate objects suddenly coming to life which in the world or universe of Kingdom Hearts, would no doubt be due to the power of one's heart or lack thereof. The story would be original and about just keeping the exhibits inside before the sun comes out while also taking on some enemies in the process. And while the most obvious choice for a party member would be Larry the night watcher, lets not forget that it is a museum where anything and everything can come to life so he wouldn't just be the only one that can be in the party. You also got the minituare cowboy and roman solider, former president Teddy Roosevelkt, Attila the Hun and so many others. It would be a big party for sure, but the possibilities are endless to an extent.

5 - Camp Half-Blood (Percy Jackson & The Olympians)
While many studios have tried and mostly failed to mimic the success and scope of the Harry Potter films, Percy Jackson is one of the few that was bad, but not the absolute worst. That being said though, its not the first time that the series has explored Greek mythology but is the first time they explore it in a more modern setting. The obvious thing here is that Percy would be a party member with some of his friends along for the ride. Each with their own abilities as well as taking on the threat that poses the world and its not just the Heartless they would be facing. Plus seeing as Disney already publish the books in the States, it could be quite easy to bring this into the series. Or not, but it would depend on popularity and I for one wouldn't mind seeing it appear if only for just the one game.

4 - The Kingdom of the Apes (Planet of the Apes)
We have kind of been given a world full of apes already in the very first game. But never in the series have we had one where its all apes and very little human activity. Given that there are at least three versions of the franchise already, the one that I feel most fans would relate to is the most recent one with Andy Serkis. As dark and depressing as it is, it is one world that Sora and the gang can help even if they end up becoming apes themselves. Its an interesting concept and one that may not be the most child friendly on this list, but it is certainly popular for sure.

3 - The Maze (Maze Runner)
First of all, I would like to address that yes I haven't seen all the films beyond the first one. I would also like to point out that yes this isn't the first time that Sora and company have gone into a maze. But given the nature of the story and the fact that Sora can open up paths, this could be a good fit for the series both from a gameplay perspective and story too. Finding a way out of the maze which would later on become more than just a maze. Plus it means that all sorts of enemies could be lurking around every corner. I probably need to see the other films to be able to work out a good story if it ever appears in the series. But from what I've seen so far, it may be dark and depressing. But there is always a light around every corner.

2 - Pandora (Avatar)
So here is an interesting fact for you. Prior to the completion of the deal, Avatar already had a presence within Disney thanks to a themed area based around the soon to be film saga in Disney theme parks. And now with the deal being completed, this means that Avatar is now well and truly owned by Disney and thus has made it possible for it to have a presence in Kingdom Hearts. So I think with the film being quite grand and spectacular, it would probably be next to impossible to mimic the great visuals in the games. But having it in the games gives the characters a means to explore the world from two perspectives or just as the Nav'i. In fact I think most of us want to see the heroes as the Nav'i just to see how they cope with the world around them. Its unclear if the story of the film could work or if it will just settle with an original story that could tie into the next film (although this seems to be unlikely). Whatever happens, its just a possibility at this point but not a bad one at that.

1 - The World of Mutants (X-Men)
Yeah you all knew this was coming. We still have yet to have anything to do with Marvel in the series so far and now that Fox belong to Disney, chances are that we are either going to have a world with all the Marvel characters that they now own or have one just about the MCU and another on the X-Men. An X-Men world would be great given that you never know what's going to happen and that there is hate at almost every turn from the humans. But its hard to imagine how it would work given how continuity is not one of Fox's strong points in their X-Men films. But of all the Fox worlds, this would be the one I would like to see the most. So yeah X-Men for number one.

And there you have it. Now of course Fox have so many other franchises that could be in the series. I personally was just sticking to the ones that are more likely to appear given their child friendly nature that the series is known for as well as the emotional baggage of course. But please do let me know what your personal picks are in the comments below. And who knows, maybe some of them will appear after all. We will just have to wait and see.

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
