So ever since the release of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, it has renewed interest in the pirates genre for gaming and as such many developers have wanted to not just mimic the gameplay, but also do their own thing from what the game has shown. Its a hard game to top especially as it came from a much beloved franchise, but we all love it very much. So on Steam there is a game that closely mimics Black Flag but rather than be a full on game with a campaign and such, this instead is a FPS online multiplayer game which just so happens to currently be in Steam Early Access. So although not fully complete yet, let's have a look at it:
So without any campaign, the game is navel combat with a focus on teamwork and cooperation. Every server can carry up to 54 players with 13 presumably being used as crew. Of course while naval combat is all well and good, players will need to maintain their ship such as making hull repairs and reload and resupply ammo. All kinds of weapons can be used and depending on how players are picked, of course the best job must be captain. Lots of customisation options as well. Graphically though, its nothing like what Black Flag was, but its decent enough due to the game itself.
For an Early Access game, its pretty decent. Content at least for the time being is lacking and it does what it sets out to do. Though I wonder if there are plans to build up servers, increase amount of players and just some general graphic enhancements. Right now I say its playable and can be fun. But until the full release, its going to be needing some work. 7/10
