Random Video Game Review - Ark: Survival Evolved

Guess what? Its another survival game from my Steam library. This time, its about surviving on an island filled with dinosaurs and other prehistoric beings as well as natural hazards and potential hostile human players. Basically think Jurrassic Park but a lot more fun and somewhat high tech. So dare I attempt at another survival game? Well let's do it and see how we get on:

Players can play the game from a first or third person perspective as a user created character in this so called island made to be an open world enviroment. To survive, players can build bases with a fire and weapons while activites such as taming animals (the biggest selling point by the developers) may take more time and resources. At the time of this review, there are a total of 176 creatures in the game's world known as the "Ark" which not just include previously mentioned dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures but also some mythilogical ones too (added by the developers as time went on) as well as some original ones too. Most animals in the game can be tamed, but not all of them with the taming method varying between creatures. Some taming methods are more complex and sometimes more brutal than others. But generally you get the hang of it after a while. All creatures great and small have a wide array of abilies and skills which will further help with the player's survival. As for the rest of the game, its like most other survival games in which players need to find food and fluids to keep their characters going as well as keeping an eye on storage and other various meters. Doing things in the game will give players exp that can improve the character's stats and be better overall

Anknowledging the problems that many other gamers have faced with this game, its ok I guess. The taming can be tedeious and the surviving part is nothing innovative but very generic. Not the best survival game I have played, but I give credit to the developers for their commitment to bringing in so many creatures original and pre-existing. 6/10
