AC3: Random TV Special Review - Comfort and Joy (Justice League S2 E23)

So when Justice League was still a cartoon set in the DC Animated Universe (not to be confused with the DC Animated Film Universe that closely resembles the New 52 stories), it was largely all two part stories with at least three that were spilt into three parts. But in season 2 just before the three part finale, we got a Christmas special that was seen as the first and possibly only holiday special to be seen in these cartoons at the time. So let's have a look shall we:

So the special is all about what the founding members of the Justice League get up to for the holidays following them saving two worlds. Batman (voiced by the legendary Kevin Conroy) spends Christmas on Watchtower duty. The Flash (voiced by Michael Rosenbaum) goes to an orphanage to find out what kids want for Christmas and then spends the rest of the special finding the toy they want before battling Ultra-Humanite (voiced by Ian Buchanan). With both Martian Manhunter (voiced by Carl Lumbly) and Hawkgirl (voiced by Maria Canals) both unfamiliar with the holidays, they spend it with Superman (voiced by George Newbern) and Green Lantern (voiced by Phil LaMarr) respectively with the former welcoming Manhunter to the Clark Ranch and the latter going with Hawkgirl to an intergalactic bar which she describes as her way of celebrating something.

Each story has an ending that reflects on the holiday and I'd say its good to take a break from all the action packed moments that we get in the series anyway. Its nice to see each of the members celebrating the holidays their own way and showing those unfamiliar with it what its really all about. Not the best Christmas Special mind you, but one that is tailored to the fans no less. 8/10
