Random TV Season Review - Batwoman (Season 1)

While so many people know greatly of the many members of the Bat family, I guess many of us may not know much about Batwoman. Before anyone starts, no she is not Batgirl. She is instead a separate character who is known as the cousin of Bruce Wayne and is widely known as being part of the LGBTQ+ community. For a while she was only known in the comics and some animated films. But then it was decided that she would join the Arrowverse in her own show and be among the likes of Flash, Green Arrow (RIP), Supergirl, Black Lightning, Superman and the Legends of Tomorrow. Now here in the UK, the majority of the Arrowverse shows are shown on Sky One while Netflix have acquired Black Lightning and E4 have Batwoman. So the annual crossover was messed up due to the way each channel scheduled their shows. But that's OK because it was worth the wait. So let's see if Batwoman was worth it as I review the first season:

Batman is gone and people want to bring down the Bat Signal. But when crime rises up in Gotham, a new hero rises in the form of Batwoman (reprised from the Elseworlds crossover by Ruby Rose) who has returned from overseas and learns a secret or two about Batman. Though she later has to deal with her supposed sister (played by Rachel Skarsten) who wants to screw up the city's sense of security. As well as her father (played by Dougray Scott) who hates vigilantes and uses his own men to protect Gotham in what he believes is a more efficient way than how Batman tackled it.

Unfortunately like the rest of the most recent seasons of the Arrowverse shows (excluding a few for obvious reasons), Batwoman's first season had to finish early due to Covid-19. But despite this, it manages to complete a story arc in the show, but leaves other elements unfinished which I guess we will have to wait until next year. Plus there is also the situation of Ruby Rose leaving the show which normally would mean that she would have to be recast. But it was decided that a new character would take up the mantle possibly to allow Rose to come back if she chooses to do so. But going back to this season, it's OK as a first season. Most people have had issues with how the series has played out. But to me it feels like the closest we are going to get to having a Batman like show appear in the Arrowverse. So I'd say its an ok series. Not entirely great and has some comparisons to Arrow, but still alright. 8/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
