Random Video Game Review - My Time at Portia

Yep its another game from Team17 who are getting prepped and ready for their next Worms game due to be released next week. They have been around for nearly as long as I have been in existence. They of course found success in the Worms games and quickly became a very successful company when expanding themselves to also publish games as well as develop. So this is another one of their games with this one being developed by a Chinese studio called Pathea Games. Not all of them were responsible for the coronavirus outbreak and the data protection incidents with Huawei and TikTok. Some people I think do forget that it is a country with lots of people living and visiting there. So put the blame on those in China that were responsible and not China overall (you hear me Trump?!). Back to the game, let's talk about it:

Set at a time when civilization has long been destroyed, humans emerge from underground and begin to rebuild society. The game is open-ended in that it's really all about making the titular town and expand it to the player's hearts content. They do this by going all Minecraft by finding resources and combine them into recipes to create items. Over time, players get more advanced tools that help move things along much quicker. Once items are complete, they can be submitted for rewards, town favor and/or money. Depending on the assignments that the players are given, some of the big ones can affect the town in many ways. And yes there are dungeons in this game too with enemies to fight within.

This game reminds me of Stardew Valley in a way. It's pretty looking, innocent for the most part and good fun. A continuation of sorts is being released next year which should also be good. But yeah this is a good game that's great for those in need of a break from the stress of the world and just for a good time too. 8/10
