AC17: Random Video Game Review - Toybox Turbos

Although I have always been keen on LEGO more than any other toy out there both growing up and now as an adult, I have always enjoyed the concept of small toy cars being raced around in big settings like gardens, kitchens and even the bedroom (yes some people do that). I am not ashamed to admit that I had some Hot Wheels toys and even a Micro Machine or two. I even had mini model trains of the Thomas the Tank Engine gang. This concept has been explored in video gaming too. I remember when I had the original Xbox, I played the Micro Machines video game on that and really enjoyed it (despite reviews saying otherwise). And even Codemasters who make the Formula One and Dirt games have given the concept a go with this game. So let's see if the fun and joy of little toy cars racing around still works well in gaming:

So much like the Micro Machines game, the game has you race around various larger than life tracks doing various quests and tasks. There are a total of 18 circuits and 35 vehicles (many of which are based on iconic vehicles such as the New York yellow taxi and the London route master) all within a very colourful game that will please gamers and toy lovers that miss those days with those toys.

While a very simple game, there is a sense of joy with playing with little cars and this game makes that point well heard. Its fun, great to play with friends and family and just makes us adults miss those old days that we wish we got back even if playing cars with our own children. 8/10
