It is an interesting question, isn't it? What if our favourite Marvel films played out a little different. What if just one little thing was changed, and thus the series of events changes for the better or worse. But its not the first time Marvel have explored this concept. For quite a few years, they have explored this with various stories coming from the comic books. Like what if Hulk actually reached the destination the Illuminati were sending him instead of where he actually ended up in Planet Hulk. Or what if there was no one opposing Captain America in the comic book version of Civil War. All interesting questions and scenarios that many wonder if other franchises such as Star Wars should consider doing. It's kind of a fan's dream to see a scenario like these become reality and as part of Phase 4 of the MCU, Marvel decided to create a series around it. All animated with various actors returning to reprise their roles so let's take a look and figure out what if the Marvel Cinematic Universe played out a little differently:
Following the creation of the multiverse in season one of Loki, a being called the Watcher (voiced by Jeffrey Wright) observes events taking place in different universes, but chooses not to interfere as they transpire. During this first season, we see a number of different scenarios such as Peggy Carter (reprised by Hayley Atwell) taking the super solider serum to become Captain Carter, a zombie plague taking over Earth just as Bruce Banner (reprised by Mark Ruffalo) arrives to warn of a much greater threat, T'Challa (reprised by the late Chadwick Boseman) becoming Star-Lord and a scenario where the Avengers all die before being assembled into the team they would eventually become. But despite these events, a certain scenario soon becomes a big threat to the multiverse that even the Watcher can't stop without interfering.
Although the animation is a bit off and perhaps would've worked better as an anime, this series is good. Very dark and tragic in a few of the scenarios, which was to be expected, but plenty of creative scenarios that are not generic make this a great series that I hope continues for as long as there are creative people behind it. Plus bringing back the actors from the films was a wise move even if a few couldn't return for various reasons. 8/10
