It is nice that the Justice Society of America is getting more and more familiar to people as DC continues to make more TV shows and films about them, whether they are the main stars or just supporting/side characters. This show in particular is perhaps the only known live action DC show where the main characters are young teenagers. Teenagers that are still learning things and are slowly but steadily becoming the heroes that they were born to be. I quite enjoyed the first season of Stargirl even though I had some issues right at the beginning. But this time, yeah some problems still. But not right off the bat like last time. So let's take a look:
Given the title Summer School, the team face an enemy that the old JSA had fought before, albeit several decades in the past. The being known as Eclipso (who as the boy called Bruce is played by Milo Stein, but otherwise by Nick Tarabay) is that enemy with villainous intentions that could put the current JSA's hometown at risk. Meanwhile, a new Injustice Society of America begins its formation just as Courtney (reprised by Brec Bassinger) is forced to go to summer school due to poor performance at her own school. That and other stuff is happening too.
The show continues to be that one "coming of age" story with DC characters, and it does a good job of it while balancing out the superhero stuff too. It's definitely got laughs, action and a few awkward moments and some cringe as well. Not to mention a few clichés here and there. But overall, a great second season with plenty for us to enjoy. 9/10
