Random TV Season Review - The Rising (Season 1)

 

I felt it was time to talk about some more Sky original shows. Very rarely talk about their kinds of shows, but I guess part of that is because many are not really what I would want to talk about on this blog. Nevertheless, I've found one to talk about, which is a supernatural crime drama based on a Belgian series that was once a Netflix original, but has since been taken down. I'm getting Murdered: Soul Suspect vibes from this show (even though that was actually a video game; a forgotten one too) so we are off to a good start. Available to watch on Now TV and Sky in the UK, let's take a look:

Our story is about Neve Kelly (played by Clara Rugaard), a young girl who one day finds herself dead. When she realizes that her death was murder, her supernatural self sets out to find her killer and claim justice. But as she navigates the world as a ghostly being, she realizes that she has the power to interfere in the world around her. Only time will tell if she succeeds in her investigation and if she is able to go onto the next life.

Although a very serious drama without much or any humour, this is a pretty good Sky production. It's memorizing, got great cinematography and will definitely hook you onto it the second it starts to get interesting. Also, good acting and generally on the whole, a great Sky original that shows they can grab people from all walks of life and not just those into comedies, crime and real life events. 9/10
