TV Season Review - Moon Knight (Season 1)

Sticking with the MCU, let's talk about their most recent Disney+ original series. Now, previously, the TV shows from Marvel have been about characters that we already know from the films. But this time, it's different because this time, we have a series about a completely brand-new character from the comics that makes his (or more accurately their) debut in the MCU. Some people are not sure what to make of this and going into this having not read the comics, I too was quite unsure. But with six episodes and talks of a possible second season (though nothing has been set in stone yet), let's have a look at this show:

Gift shop assistant, Steven Grant (played by Oscar Issac), works at the British Museum in London, where he hopes to be a tour guide for Ancient Egypt things that the museum has on display. Grant sleeps one night and discovers that he shares a body with a mercenary called Marc Spector (also played by Issac) who has dissociative identity disorder and ultimately becomes the conduit for the Egyptian moon god known as Khonshu (performed and voiced respectively by Karim El Hakim and F. Murray Abraham). The pair must work together to solve a deadly mystery to do with the Egyptian gods while being in the same body and embracing their dual role as the Moon Knight.

As the first MCU Disney+ original series to focus on a character not previously seen in anything else in the MCU, this is pretty good. Much darker than the previous shows with some weirdness to it and lots of enjoyable moments. Entertainment may wane a bit, but it's overall a good, solid show that proves once again that Marvel's risks can pay off if done right (unlike Captain Marvel and The Eternals). 9/10
