Random Video Game Review - Dungeon of the Endless

In the past, I talked about Endless Legend, which I now come to realize that it's part of a series of loosely connected games made by Amplitude Studios. With it nearly reaching a milestone anniversary and a successor game is currently in the works (or already out depending on when you read this), I felt it was time to return to the Endless universe (as in the franchise, not the actual endless universe) to play and review this. It looks like it could be fun and given my experience with tower defence games with roguelike elements, those are always good to play. So let's see if this one also falls in that category:

You the player take the role of some survivors from a prison spaceship, of which its escape pod has crashed onto the surface of a strange planet. To escape, the survivors must carry an energy crystal through several floors, each filled with a number of dangerous creatures (which anyone who grew up with Lego video games dating late 90s/early 00s, will immediately find this awfully familiar). To help with this, the player can have the survivors explore each level to find resources, construct things and basically find a means to progress to the next floor. Each level is procedurally generated, so not all playthroughs of this will be the same for everyone. Each survivor have their own stats and most levels will have you pick two of them to use. You can play as the survivors or just direct them how you see fit.

Basically, with a few differences, this is very similar to one of my pastime Lego games, Lego Rock Raiders. Plays out very similarly, but while that game was made to be more simple as to tailor to a younger audience, this one is a bit more complex with the addition of everything being procedurally generated. It hasn't got much in the way of replay value in that after one play through, you basically get to experience everything and starting a new one will have each level be different due to the procedural generated way they are presented, but the experience will largely remain the same. Still though, despite the similarities and lack of that, it's pretty decent, and I may not be looking forward to the successor as much as other games coming up. But I will still play that too. 7/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
