Random Video Game Review - Far: Lone Sails

One of the big goals that many game developers strive to do nowadays, is put us gamers into immersive worlds and have a reason to escape our reality. We all see games as a way to relax, blow off some steam and generally most of the time, they are to be enjoyed. But of all the different game genres out there, post-apocalyptic has been very mixed. Most would argue that those games a good, but have a lot of dull moments and pretty boring stuff. Others would say that, this is what you would expect in games like that. Not saying all of them are like that. In fact, the most I have played are really good. Yes, you hear people praise The Last of Us games a lot, and yeah they are really good games. Would I say they deserve the awards that they have received? I guess so. I mean, much of the gameplay it has, had been done before already, and it really only succeeds thanks to the performances of the main characters. That's really where it succeeds most of all, and it feels very cinematic, too. But not to the point where it comes across as a game that is basically being a non-interactive medium, despite being released as an interactive medium. Anyway enough talk, let's see if this post-apocalyptic game that's currently on sale at the moment, is good:

The game has you play as the driver of this heavily modified large vehicle as you search through a post-apocalyptic environment. It's played from a side scrolling perspective, with the interior of the vehicle being seen as a cross-section. Now you might think this will be easy because you drive a vehicle with the usual driving controls. Well, you don't do it like that. No, instead, you move the driver around to various stations within the vehicle to work on keeping it moving. This includes things like filling her up with fuel and engaging the engine, among other things. Various parts of the vehicle can take damage, forcing the player to stop and do repairs. Plus a lot of puzzles to solve with upgrades to keep the maintenance of the vehicle in check. While there are no enemies, the player character can die due to environmental hazards and will start from the last checkpoint.

Definitely a game that will have its theories on the story and other things. I definitely see MatPat and others possibly making theories on this game if it was popular enough back in 2018 when it originally came out. It's quite relaxing, very simple to play and does more with its meaning and themes in a very simple way when compared to more triple A titles that are known to do a bit too much of that (which is either loved or hated by fans). Yeah, check it out. 8/10
