From one teen drama final season to another, it's time for that show that was originally a take on the dark side of Archie comics. But quickly forged its own path and become a mix of the dark comics and the regular ones too. Most will agree that despite some inconsistencies, the show has been pretty good at mixing a lot of different genres together to create something of a mix of things while primarily sticking to being a teen drama. A teen drama that probably has a much more attractive cast than Ragnarök because if I'm being honest, I'm kind of like Betty (reprised by Lili Reinhart) who in this season, has these sexual urges for everyone and although there is a reason for that, I kind of feel the same way. I mean, all the men and women that are young and beautiful in this show, are drop-dead gorgeous and sometimes, you just can't help but fall in love with them whether its because of their characters, their looks or the way they just go about life. So final season of this beloved show, where things are once again looking a little weird and crazy. But with the intention of at least attempting to tie up all loose ends. Let's go:
Following from the last season, everyone finds themselves in 1955 with Jughead (reprised by Cole Sprouse) being the only one that remembers their former lives. Attempts to convince the gang are, for the most part, to no avail. But that may not be such a bad thing as the season sees the gang go through more hardships, shocking revelations and some nice moments too. All leading into one final episode where a much older Betty (played by Michele Scarabelli) is revealed to be the last of the gang still alive with her memories of their times together, deteriorating. That is, until an apparition of Jughead, appears to help her remember what happened to her friends and to help through her final moments of being alive.
It's been a good show, even if there have been some inconsistencies and moments you just wish didn't happen. But it's great to see a show tackle the different social norms and real life things that can happen, while adding a fantasy element to it, which makes this take on the Archie comics, interesting and stand out. Pretty much the whole cast are wonderful actors who do well in keeping us invested, whether it be just by looks alone or what they do in their characters. This final season, may have slow pacing and may not be as action packed as previous seasons. But it does well to tie up all loose ends and ending with the gang all at Pops, with Jughead closing it with one final piece of narration. It's unlikely that we will get anything like this again in the future, so enjoy it while Netflix (as it is here in the UK) still hold the rights to it. 9/10
