Random Movie Review - No One Will Save You

Yes, even Disney+ has got some horror things on it. Hardly surprising for a streaming service. Yes, Disney may be mainly known for its family friendly content, but it's also no stranger to more mature stuff. You may not see much of the Disney name in the mature rated films and TV shows, but they were involved in it. I just get annoyed when people make out that Disney is all family friendly, when the truth of it is that they aren't always that. But you may be wondering why I'm going on about Disney+ when this poster clearly states that this sci-fi horror is on Hulu. We UK folk don't have Hulu, but what we do have is the Star hub on Disney+ which I guess you could say is our version of Hulu, but just strictly anything that Disney owns (Pixar, Marvel, LucasFilm, National Geographic, 20th Century Studios, Touchstone, Searchlight Pictures etc.) and selected things from other studios, all aimed for a mature audience. So with that rant out of the way, let's talk about this sci-fi horror bought to us by the director of the Netflix black comedy horror, The Babysitter and from perhaps one of a few companies owned by Disney that are still making original content that isn't based on anything else. Let's take a look:

The film follows seamstress Brynn (played by Kaitlyn Dever) who is mourning the loss of her mother and also her best friend while living in a town of people that don't like her very much. One night, a humanoid alien, appears and attempts to use telekinesis to subdue her, but she manages to fend it off. This begins an alien invasion that tries to take control of all electronic devices and humans with Brynn being the only one that seems to care about what is happening.

This film is unique in that there is some dialogue, but not much of it. Following other sci-fi horrors like it such as A Quiet Place and its continuing series among others. As a film, it's got stakes, it's got thrills and also chills in places. The acting of Kaitlyn Dever, proves that sometimes in films, you don't need a lot of dialogue to command the screen. The acting of everyone else is fine too. Special effects are pretty cool looking. So I guess overall, it's a pretty good sci-fi horror that is up there as being among the ones that has little to no dialogue and works, despite that. 9/10
