Movie Review - Madame Web

So it's time for another trainwreck in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. OK that may have been a little bit harsh because it just feels like every film they make for that cinematic universe, are just going down the same route of being bad, boring, dull and everything in between. Maybe things will be better here, but the ratings on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes are not looking good. So let's take a look at this film and the first to feature Columbia's 100th anniversary logo (yes it's their turn to turn 100) with an open mind, but expecting the worst in an ironic way:

Set in 2003, Cassie Webb (played by Dakota Johnson) is living life as a paramedic, but struggles to come to terms with how she was born. Following a dangerous situation, Cassie realizes that she can see into the future which makes her question the circumstances of her birth. Nevertheless, she sets out to save the lives of 3 teenage girls from a man who is of the belief that these 3 girls will kill him when they become super heroines many years from now.

I will give the film this, it does have a somewhat interesting story and scenario. Plus, seeing Adam Scott and Emma Roberts not play dickish or bitchy characters, is a nice change, having got too used to them playing unpleasant characters in other things. But that's where the positive stuff ends. This film, like the other films in this universe, is a mess. I can't take the villain seriously with that voice of his, the 3 teenage girls feel like they can't remember their lines and anything they say, feels very forced and not natural. Then this whole thing about seeing into the future and repeating things that happen in a day, been done way too many times before, and this film adds nothing new to that formula. Yeah, overall, it's a film that you'll laugh at if you are planning to envision this as a "so bad, it's good" kind of film or see it ironically. Hopefully things will improve, but if Kraven the Hunter fails, then Sony may as well call it a day or seriously look at either reworking it all or give all these characters back to Marvel for the MCU which this film is definitely NOT a part of. 2/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
